The Pojama People team up once again with Zappa alum IKE WILLIS for an awesome live performance of Frank Zappa’s music at the Mt. Tabor Theater. Willis worked with music legend Frank Zappa from 1978 to 1993, and can be heard on such notable albums as Joe’s Garage (he was “Joe”), Thingfish (he was “Thingfish”) and Best Band You Never Heard In Your Life (he was “The Walrus”)

Opening for Pojama People is Twisted Whistle, an awesome combination of bluegrass, jazz, americana and rock and roll featuring a cello, guitar, mandolin and percussion. Their Pink Floyd covers will blow your mind.

Don’t miss this opportunity to see IKE Willis and the Pojama people bring Frank Zappa alive at the Mt. Tabor Theater.

About Emo Philips:

Considered by many, including “Weird Al” Yankovic, as one of the funniest people on the planet, Emo Philips has performed over 6000 times, throughout the English-speaking world (including a multi-week run at the Playhouse Theater in London’s West End.) Since starting out — at the age of twenty — in Chicago in 1976, Emo has had award-winning comedy albums, several cable specials (including an hour-long one on HBO), and many appearances on network television. He has appeared in films (most notably, as the table-saw demonstrator in UHF) and has lent his distinctive voice to animated TV shows (such as Doctor Katz, Slacker Cats and Home Movies), but his first love remains stand-up.

Written by Charise Castro Smith and directed by Olga Sanchez, BOOMCRACKLEFLY is having its world premiere right here in Portland at the Milagros Theatre.

Just how far would you go for love? In a New York barrio, a female impersonator ignores the advice of an imaginary grandmother to fall in love with an insatiable scientist; in a Key West circus, two acrobat sisters are divided over the ghost of Ernest Hemingway; and in revolutionary Havana, a man who wishes he had wings yearns to fly away to another land.

Three seemingly disparate stories weave together in a clever combination of science fiction and magical realism to create an eccentric environment that is as unsettling as it is irresistible.
