Written by Charise Castro Smith and directed by Olga Sanchez, BOOMCRACKLEFLY is having its world premiere right here in Portland at the Milagros Theatre.

Just how far would you go for love? In a New York barrio, a female impersonator ignores the advice of an imaginary grandmother to fall in love with an insatiable scientist; in a Key West circus, two acrobat sisters are divided over the ghost of Ernest Hemingway; and in revolutionary Havana, a man who wishes he had wings yearns to fly away to another land.

Three seemingly disparate stories weave together in a clever combination of science fiction and magical realism to create an eccentric environment that is as unsettling as it is irresistible.

I’m always up for a Milagro production, Heminway, and human flight. That reason enough. . . biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig money!

  2.   Eric B. Says:

I would like to attend for the following three reasons: 1. My s%#t doesn’t stink, 2. My glass house is bullet-proof so throw whatever you like, and 3. The grass really is greener on my side. Also I am in the early stages of courtship and need to impress her with my culture AND eccentricity.

  3.   Shannon Says:

Who doesn’t love a love story? And these three sound delightfully weird, wacky & wonderful.

  4.   Z Says:

Going through an excessively scary and rough period of life in which money is scrounged purely for food. This sounds AMAZING and would be a great way to have something good for a few hours.

  5.   Leonard Says:

I would like to win because, like the playwright, I am a Miami-raised Cuban-American and I miss my culture. I just found out about Teatro Milagro and am so excited!

I love theater and sci-fi. Sounds like a great time and I’ve never been to the Milagro as of yet. My budgetary facts at this time are disadvantageous to my actual purchasing of tickets. I’d love to go!
