Help Tease Time celebrate its two year anniversary with two bands and five acts. Comedienne Whitney Streed will host the party, which includes musical performances by Boy and Bean and Sexhawk, burlesque performances by Lucky Lucy O’Rebel, Miss Frankie Tease and Burk Biggler, live dancing by The Dolly Pops, and cigarettes and antics by Brooksie Van Pelt. This show also includes a vintage polaroid photo booth with photographer John Labovitz, specialty vintage vendors, and raffles prizes by Lady Luck Tattoo, Bart’s Barber Shop, Siren of the Sea, and Serious Juggling,
About the performers:
Whitney Streed is a comedian because if she was not, her incessant punning would have no artistic or monetary value whatsoever. She has been seen at the Bridgetown Comedy Festival (with Janeane Garofalo), the Comedy Underground in Seattle (with Moshe Kasher), burlesque shows, pride festivals, and more than one biker bar in Troutdale (with mild terror). She does Improv, she laughs a lot, she thinks a great deal about puns, gender, brains, grammar, awkward tension, history, performance, conspiracy theories, shame, glitter, and the internet.
Boy and Bean are a Portland based swing/jazz trio featuring Luke Short on guitar and vocals, Amber Short on vocals, and Andrew Jones on upright base. Depression era music is Boy and Bean’s primary musical focus covering song by such artists as the Mill’s Brothers, The Boswell Sisters and Ella Fitzgeralds.
Lucky Lucy O’Rebel is a pint sized pinup with a little charm and a whole lot of attitude. Originally performing in Seattle, Lucy has brought her energy and enthusiasm with a classic sex appeal to every performance. This little hellion will tease her way into your heart with her hypnotic shimmy and shaking.
Miss Frankie Tease, who will tap dance and strip tease a new number, is the show’s creator. She is a Performer, Producer and Host of Burlesque events in Portland, Oregon, and frequent model at the Art Institute of Portland. She is the founder and creator of Tease Time Comics weekly web strip, as well as the creator of Tease Time and Hangover Helper Burlesque Shows.
The Dolly Pops are a Portland based collective of six models and dancers. A mass of expertise in movement of several genres (including, ballet, modern, jazz, belly) this troupe is fun on any occasion, on stage or as atmosphere. The Dolly Pops will be doing a synchronized dance for your viewing pleasure at this show and will be available for vintage Polaroid photo shots with patrons for a nominal fee after their performance at the Tonic Lounge.
Burk Biggler performs a little-man strip tease and comedic act. He began his strip-tease career recently in Portland after making a splash in Vancouver and Portland as an MC at many types of rockabilly, burlesque, pin-up contest and other events.
‘Brooksie‘ is the quintessential art deco girl and modern day flapper. She has been modeling vintage clothes and doing old time pin-up styles for two years now, her specialty is looks from the teens, 20s and 30s. Her next adventure along with modeling is to be Portland’s premier 1920′s candy cigarette girl. Brooksie also has a nightly stretching ritual and wants to be a contortionist in a vaudeville show when she grows up.
