The world of publishing is changing rapidly, with the increasing ease of access for independent publishers and shifting roles for brick and mortar bookstores and large publishers. But the book business is thriving, and the basics of creating a successful book remain the same. Quality still matters, and you need to have a plan.
That's why on Saturday, April 9, the Northwest Association of Book Publishers in conjunction with Portland Community College will offer a seminar called ¬Å“Essentials of Book Publishing.¬Â The motto of the seminar is ¬Å“Walk in with a vision, walk out with a plan.¬Â
Drawing expertise from NWABP membership and local independent publishers and vendors, the seminar will lead would-be independent publishers from developing a realistic marketing and business plan to creating a high-quality book and getting it into the distribution and sales system.
With its emphasis on creating a real plan for real success, the seminar is perfect for writers who are considering publishing their own book and want to make informed decisions. It will also benefit the independent publisher considering which project to tackle next.

i have been writing, weaving and conceiving all sorts of plots, twists and turns from the deepest of despairs to the greatest of victories – some of me, some coursing through my body to hand, pen, paper, each given a voice. therefore, it would be of great worth to me if i was able to attend this seminar on learning how to self publish.
