Devoted oenophiles, occasional wine drinkers, and those still learning the basics of wine tasting are invited to attend the third annual North Willamette Wine Trail Weekend on April 9-10, 2011. Hosted by North Willamette Vintners, a nonprofit organization comprised of wineries, vineyards and other wine tourism partners in Oregon's North Willamette Valley, the weekend includes special events and tastings at 24 wineries located within minutes of Portland.
From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days, guests will experience wine tastings exclusive to the Wine Trail Weekend, including offerings of reserve labels, new releases and barrel tastings. Specially selected wine and food pairings will also be an emphasis of the weekend.
All guests will receive a Wine Trail Kit that includes a reusable wine tote, a commemorative wine glass and a variety of special discounts and offers at local hotels, restaurants and wineries. Designated drivers will receive the same tote - with a stainless steel water bottle instead of the wine glass - along with snacks and non-alcoholic beverages.
Along this self-guided tour, guests of the North Willamette Wine Trail will participate in a variety of activities and events, including:
¬Â¢ Exclusive wine tastings - Guests will be among the first to taste pre-releases, reserve labels and vertical barrel tastings.
¬Â¢ Wine and food pairings - Guests will learn about and discuss the best wine pairings and enjoy samples of gourmet cheeses, hors d'oeuvres and desserts.
¬Â¢ Creative activities - Guests will learn about varietals, label and wax their own bottles and take winery tours.
¬Â¢ New wineries - Guests will experience new labels and small wineries not typically open for tastings.
¬Â¢ Entertainment - Guests will relax to live music, enjoy local art, learn about garden planning, and be encouraged to take scenic garden walks.

I should win because I love wine!
I want to win these tickets (desperately!) because it’s an incredible event at which I’ve attended previously and I would like to make it an annual tradition. Oh, and I’m cool and really (no, REALLY) like wine.
I’ve not tasted near enough Willamette Valley wines, and haven’t had a date in over 5 years, and think this would be an exceptionally good way to get back in the game.

Visiting wineries in the Willamette Valley is my favorite weekend excursion in the Spring/Summer. This is the first time hearing about this event and it sounds so fun!
I’ve been tasting all over when I travel, but am realizing that I really haven’t done our own Willamette justice. Weekend of wine tasting with my honey would be the perfect way to kick off spring (and end my 4 week cleanse sans alcohol!)

We’re oenophiles who haven’t yet had the time to explore the riches of Willamette wineries… It’s time.
We want to go so we can learn to refine our palettes enough to say something more informed at tastings than “this is delicious! It tastes grape-y”. “This one is awesome! Very wine-y.”
This sounds like a wonderful event! I can’t think of a better way to kick off the Spring weather than with a wine tasting tour. The wineries are ready and I’m waiting to go! Love to take my boyfriend on his first Oregon wine tour.
I’m a recent fan of wine (last 3 years) however; I would like to learn the “art” of wine and learn how to “try” wines that would best fit my pallet. I tend to lean towards white wine, while my husband is definitely a Pinot Noir fan.
I’m learning that Oregon has some of the best wines around and would love to learn more.

My husband and I happen to have that weekend off together (our first in several months) and we were trying to figure out what we could do locally. This event sounds perfect, and we would love to go! We both adore and appreciate Oregon wines.
