    I ride bikes.

  8.   Billy Says:

Dudes! I’m a 50something, hair-challenged, tie-wearing, saddle-soothing wannabe willing to put my butt mini-largesse in tight, padded shorts and do it with dignity. I once did a metric century with a fractured ankle, yet I’m a cycling sophomore in many ways. I’d brag big time about getting swag to attend the show — and break out the cash while I’m there.

  9.   Glenn Crosse Says:

I’d love to go to the show.

  10.   Paul LaVigne Says:

I have been a dedicated bike commuter for 11 years now, and I love bikes. I love riding them, and I love fixing them. One of the main factors that made us decide to move to Portland was the bike culture here. I would love to go to the show to get to know my new bike community even better.

  11.   Connie Ford Says:

I am looking for a regular bike with electric assist for a trip to the San Juan Islands in September. The show will provide the information I need in order to make a good selection. I love to bike!!

  20.   Caitlin Says:

I recently sold my car and relocated to Portland, because I can be car free! Bought a bike within the first 2 weeks of living here and have been able to explore and see many rad places. Even saw a guy riding a unicycle along the waterfront. I’d love to go to the convention to check out all the handmade bikes that make Portland so unique and pick up some sweet accessories.

Would like to take my boys to the bike show!

  43.   Mikey Says:

I will solicit advice on the removal of my decades-old training wheels from my aerodynamic man-machine. Experts will not be able to stop themselves from advising me on nearly all topics as I absorb the wisenesses.

  44.   Susan Says:

I need to test ride some bikes to learn whether I want a recumbent or to replace my 1980′s Raleigh (current bike). I have plantar fasciitis (over a year now…in spite of drugs, ice and stretching) and have had to give up dance, Zumba, step and walking so biking has become my aerobic exercise. But my seat is dang hard and though I had the bike tuned the shifting and brakes aren’t too safe feeling.
Forty decades ago I used to bike 20 miles to swim then ride back home, up a mountain. A friend and I made that ride almost daily in the summers. I am far from the ability to do that now but I miss that “person” and have improved my strength and stamina over the past 3 months.
I’m looking into bike groups, trails and my own “hands-on” maintenance.
I’m in the ambitious but learning stages and desire to gain knowledge.
I’ve only done two group rides: Providence Bridge Pedal and The Worst Day Ride. The roads are almost all bikers so we didn’t use the bike lanes. I need to better learn those “rules”.
I had a biker upset with me for not knowing the rules of the road and having them swerve out of the bike lane, cut through my right turn lane and I scared both of us.
Security kindly kicked me off Nike campus yesterday, Saturday. (I was riding around the perimeter where cars belong, not the jogging trail. Bikes aren’t allowed either place.) So, I joined the traffic on Jenkins Road and found the bike lane to be a surprisingly nice place to be.
I also loaded fourteen bikes into the back of my truck to take a group of 12 year olds on a ride. The experience was enjoyed by all. (Some kids didn’t own bikes so we gathered bikes for them.) Later I returned, enthusiastically, to the same area, with a friend only for her to discover the sign that bikes weren’t allowed! Oops. Glad we only saw a couple of people on the trail the day of the group ride and that they were all pleasant, kind Oregonians. The kids loved the experience.
I thirst for the knowledge to be found at the convention and will spread word of all I gain with others.

  45.   Plat Says:

I MUST go and have awaken the past four Saturday’s knowing what’s to come to the convention center. I went online wanting to believe this was happening May…next weekend and that I HADN’T MISSED the event. I eagerly wrote my aforementioned essay and then saw the date more sanely…
MAN I MISSED THIS!! Where can I turn to begin my test rides now?
I did join a riding group and will pay better attention to their “dates”.
