——————————————————————-

Win Tickets: Soul’d Out Music Festival, Breakestra, Ellis Marsalis Quartet + Hot 8 Brass Band ($131, April 15-17)
This is your last chance to get your groove on at Soul’d Out Festival. Pipeline has a pair of tickets to see each of the following: Breakestra w/  Doodoo Funk All-Stars, Ellis Marsalis Quartet w/ Jason Marsalis and Devin Phillips, and Hot 8 Brass Band. This soul/funk extravaganza wraps up this weekend, so don’t miss your shot at winning tickets. To win, comment on this post why you would like to attend and which show you’d like to attend.

Win Tickets: ‘American: The Bill Hicks Story’ at Hollywood Theater ($14, April 15)
Hollywood Theater is screening a new documentary about the life of great American comedian, Bill Hicks. Seventeen years after his death, Bill Hicks has taken a permanent place in the cultural landscape and is widely recognized as one of the greatest American comedians of the modern era. Much more than just a comedian - he was described as a philosopher, social satirist, even preacher - his comedy challenged the injustices of life head on, but his uncompromising approach met with controversy and resistance in America, and it was instead on the international stage where he found fame. To win, comment on this post why you would like to attend.

Win Tickets: Trentemoller w/ Dorit Chrysler | Soul'd Out Music Festival ($30, April 15)
To celebrate the one year anniversary of PDX event space Refuge, renowned Danish producer TRENTEMØLLER will play a live show on April 15th. This is his first Oregon appearance and he is on a very limited US tour. He will be playing at Coachella two days after this show and Refuge PDX is honored to host a very special show for him. Trentmoller will be traveling with opener Dorit Chrysler, a very renowned Theremin player. To win, comment on this post why you would like to attend.

Win Tickets: RockBox Dance Party at Holocene ($6, April 15)
The triumvirate of DJ KEZ, Matt Nelkin, and Dundiggy play a masterfully blended mix of fun, dance oriented Hiphop, R&B, and Old School Electro with a dash of Bmore, Dancehall, 80s, and House thrown in for good measure. As die-hard record collectors all three Dj's play exclusively vinyl. Every set and every ROCKBOX dance party is a custom experience with these cats digging into their seemingly bottomless crates to pull out the beats that make you want to sweat out the work week. To win, comment on this post why you would like to attend.

Win Tickets: Simpsons Writer Dana Gould at Helium Comedy Club ($400, April 15-16)
Its ironic that the man with some of the funniest facial expressions on earth spent seven years behind the screen writing for ‘The Simpsons’. Stand-Up comic Dana Gould has also appeared on HBO ¬Å“Late Night With Conan O'Brien,¬Â ¬Å“The Late Show with David Letterman¬Â ¬Å“Seinfeld¬Â and ¬Å“The Ben Stiller Show”. Most recently, he appeared in film “The Aristocrats”. To win, comment on this post why you would like to attend.

Win Tickets: The Motet w/ Excellent Gentleman at Mt. Tabor Theater ($70, April 15-16)
On Friday, The Motet will be playing the music of The Motet featuring their crew from Colorado plus some great players from Portland including the fantastic Mr. Jans Ingber on vocals and percussion. Get ready for some killing horn driven, percussion laden afro-funk-electronica that will leave you dance drunk and hungry for more! On Saturday, The Motet will be performing the music of the most successful and influential funk band from the 1970's: Earth, Wind, & Fire! To win, comment on this post why you would like to attend.

Win Tickets: Foolproof Four w/ Wizard Boots and The Holy Children ($10, April 16)
San Francisco’s Foolproof Four are coming to Portland’s Kelly’s Olympian on Saturday, even if they have to hitchhike, according to the band. Perhaps the best way to describe Foolproof Four is by way of equation: multiply blues by jazz, add rock, divide by country, and subtract half the band (as well as most of the drum kit). The result is an intimate sound with a big presence; guitarist/vocalist Noah Grant soars while drummer Dan Brennan dials in the groove, hollering periodically to round out the mix. To win, comment on this post why you would like to attend.

Win Tickets: McTuff Trio at Goodfoot Lounge ($20, April 16)
McTuff is a monster of a hammond organ quartet! Steeped in the soul/jazz chops of their forebears (Jimmy McGriff, Brother Jack McDuff, etc) they are not afraid to blaze new sonic territory and fold elements of rock, punk, pop and more into their jaw-dropping instrumental sets. What began as an ode to some of the organ greats in soul jazz, such as delivering their own take on the works of Jimmy Smith and Captain Jack McDuff, soon turned into something more. To win, comment on this post why you would like to attend.

Win Tickets: Bridgetown Comedy Festival ($150, April 21-24)
Voted Best Comedy Festival by Punchline Magazine, the 2011 Bridgetown Comedy Festival is the premier event showcasing comedy's biggest names and rising stars. The 4th annual Bridgetown Comedy Festival features over 175 of the funniest comedians and comic actors in the world. This year's festival features headlining act Margaret Cho, Andy Dick and Doug Benson, as well as dozens of other hilarious comedians from here in Portland and around the nation. To win, comment on this post why you would like to attend.

GAME 4: Timbers (0-1-2) vs Chicago Fire (1-1-1)
Thursday, April 14, 8:00 p.m. ESPN2
Previous match-up(s): None

Coming off their first MLS point earned on the road against New England, the Timbers look to christen the renovated Jeld-Wen Field with a victory over the Fire. Chicago are coming off a loss in Seattle where they looked dangerous on offense but were exposed on defense. Portland is still struggling with injuries and will miss David Horst (ankle sprain) and Brian Umony (knee sprain).

However, the availability of talented, young winger Sal Zizzo and first round draft pick Darlington Nagbe will bring an added dimension to the Timbers attack. New designated player Diego Chara will not be available pending his international transfer certificate.
