On Cinco de Mayo, May 5, the pop-culture forces of burlesque and Mexican-style Loteria bingo converge at the Bossanova Ballroom with ¬Å“Dames & Games¬Â. Orchestre L'Pow! will present a one-of-a-kind date night with plenty of shake and shimmy and ¬Å“couples-oriented¬Â prizes (use your dirty imagination) for the lucky Loteria winners.
Loteria is Mexico's national bingo game, using pictures instead of letters and numbers. Dating back to the 1880s, Loteria images like La Sirena (the mermaid), El Diablito (the little devil) and El Borracho (the drunk) have made their way into U.S. pop culture, appearing on everything from T-shirts to handbags to skateboards.
Featured Burlesque Performers will be nationally renowned Charlotte Treuse (2011 ¬Å“Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend¬Â nominee (Las Vegas, NV), headliner at Bustout Burlesque, May 2011 (New Orleans, LA)), acclaimed Portland burlesque producer Madison Moon, and Infamous Nina Nightshade (2011 Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend Showcase nominee). The event will be MC'd by international burlesque MC, Vincent Drambuie.
Orchestre L'Pow! has delivered pasty-twirling tunes for some of the most enticing members of the NW region's Neo-Burlesque and Alt-Tease troupes, including the Heavenly Spies, Rose City Shimmy, the tattooed seductresses of the Suicide Girls, The Gun Street Girls, Atomic Bombshells and the Glam-O-Rama Girly Show.

I have never to this day managed to celebrate Cinco De Mayo properly. I have been in America for about 10 years now and every year I either have to work, or travel, or something comes up. This year I have finally gotten myself to a place where I can afford to take the 5th of May off, and I would love nothing more than to celebrate it with my girlfriend and my favorite things – games, sexy women, music and drinks :)
