Make the most of your three-day weekend with these awesome Memorial Day events. From tonight’s fireworks at the waterfront to the pig races this weekend at the Multnomah County Fair, there is a little something for everyone.
If you plan to take TriMet this weekend, remember all MAX and bus lines will be running on Sunday schedules for the Memorial Day holiday. Several lines do not have service on Sundays, so be sure to plan your trip accordingly.

Downtown Portland Pick: Portland Rose Festival CityFair
It’s Memorial Day weekend in Portland and that means it’s Rose Festival time. The fireworks are tonight and there is free admission all day today (and FREE admission offered to all veterans, reservist, active military and their legal dependents with valid Military ID every day). Speaking of veterans, there are several Rose Fest events going on to honor our war heroes, like the Danner Memorial March on Naito Parkway on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.You can also visit the Danner Memorial Wall to pay tribute to the vets in your life. Goose Hollow Pick: Portland Timbers vs D.C. United
The Timbers Army will rally this Sunday as the Timbers face D.C. United at Jeld Wen Field at 2 p.m. The Red Cross will be at the game to raise money for the victims of a recent tornado in Joplin, Missouri, hometown of Timbers midfielder Jack Jewsbury. SE Portland Pick: Pee Wee’s Big Weekend at Bagdad Theater
Look out, Mister Potato Head! Fleur de Lethal Cinematheque is bringing Pee Wee’s Big Adventure to McMenamins Bagdad Theater this weekend. Bust out your finest gray suit for the Big Kid screening at 10 p.m. on Saturday night and get ready to shake it for the Tequila Dance Contest. Shouting, Pee Wee impressions and general silliness are greatly encouraged. On Sunday at 1 p.m., dress up the whole family in Pee Wee-wear for a family friendly screening. Pearl Pick: Pay-What-You-Will night for One Night with Janis Joplin at Portland Center Stage
The Sunday, May 29 7:30pm performance will be the Pay-What-You-Will performance for One Night with Janis Joplin. All available tickets will go on sale for whatever patrons wish to pay ($1 and up, cash only) at 7:15pm at the Portland Center Stage box office. Tickets available in-person only on a first-come, first-served basis.

Red Cross Blood Drive on Memorial Day
Whole Foods Market Laurelhurst is delighted to announce a blood drive for the Red Cross on Monday 30th May (10-3pm). Get a pint of berries for donating a pint of blood! The blood drive will be in the parking lot of the store (2825 E Burnside, Portland OR 97214).
