Portland's Distillery Row is fast becoming the ¬Å“must see¬Â attraction for locals and out-of-towners alike-those looking for that perfect afternoon spent exploring the mystique and sampling the wares of the booming micro-distillery movement.

And why not tour Distillery Row in a manner befitting a Portlander-by bike! For the third year running, PDX Pedicab is offering their summer Distillery Row pedicab tour package.

The Distillery Row Tour begins with a special kick-off party at the Jupiter Hotel on June 4,, 2011. Tickets are $35 and include appetizers, sample cocktails from Distillery Row, shuttle and pedicab rides to the distilleries, and the Distillery Row Passport. Tickets are available online at www.pdxpedicab.com.

¬Å“Distillery Row is our most popular tour,¬Â says Kyle _Kautz. ¬Å“There's just something about the vibe amongst the different distilleries and people's fascination with it that makes it a lot of fun. It's educational, relaxed, and of course there's the phenomenal spirits.¬Â

Indeed, PDX Pedicab ran over 1000 Distillery Row tours last year alone. But this year there are a number of added benefits to the package. PDX Pedicab is teaming with Distillery Row Tours & Passport, a local marketing company focused specifically on developing Distillery Row as a top tourist destination. In addition to offering shuttles from downtown (and to a few destinations out of the reach of the pedicabs), the tour will include the new Distillery Row Passport-a 48 page booklet that acts as an interactive tour guide to the distilleries and their neighboring businesses in Distillery Row.

In addition to saving on tasting & tour fees at the distilleries themselves, the Distillery Row Passport offers information, maps, and over 50 discounts and incentives to nearby businesses, from restaurants and bars, retail shops, art galleries and theater, coffee shops, bowling, and comedy clubs.

¬Å“The idea was you come for the tour and the spirits¬Â¦you stay around and go out to dinner, see a show, or go shopping,¬Â says Kyle. It's all about building and supporting community.¬Â

I think I should win because I am letting my wife go to her 20th high school reunion on the night of our 19th anniversary this summer. If that isn’t taking one for the team I don’t know what is. This way, we could use the PediCab tour as an alternate event for our anniversary.

  2.   Anjuli Says:

I’ve walked pilgrimages across Europe, I’ve been on a beergrimage to Belgium, and now I can do a booze-grimage in Portland without even stumbling. Perfect!
