Renowned DJ duo Thievery Corporation have announced details of their sixth studio album, Culture of Fear, set for release on June 28th on ESL Music. The release will kick-off with a live show at the Williamsburg Waterfront in Brooklyn on June 24th and the full live band will be doing a run of shows throughout the summer, including trips to Portugal, Hungary, Greece, Turkey, Australia and a headline show at Red Rocks on August 14th.

With over 1.2 million albums sold in the U.S. across 15 years of making music, Thievery Corporation serves up their sixth studio album titled Culture of Fear. They continue to blend musical styles in their trademark fashion; space-rock jams lead to hip-hop inspired grooves, airy down-temp trances and dub-reggae infused vibes throughout the journey.

Tracks include ¬Å“Web of Deception,¬Â a 70's space-rock-funk homage to bands like Mystic Moods Orchestra, ¬Å“Take My Soul,¬Â a rock/soul/electronic jam featuring longtime Thievery Corporation Persian singer LouLou, an epic instrumental titled ¬Å“Fragments,¬Â as well as collaborations with Bitter Sweet vocalist Shana Halligan on ¬Å“Is It Over?¬Â and Boston hip-hop artist Mr. Lif on the title track, ¬Å“Culture of Fear.¬Â

Over the years, Thievery Corporation has become known for the carnival-esque atmosphere of their live shows, during which they bring out a 15-member live band of musicians and vocalists. The group has sold out shows at such famed venues as the Hollywood Bowl, London’s 02 Shepherds Bush Empire, and the Theatro Vrahon Melina Merkouri in Athens, Greece, among many others.

    Uh, because I’ve been a fan for I don’t know HOW many years (> 10 for sure) and never seen Thievery. Because I’ve been a major Los Amigos Invisibles fan for approximately as long and never seen THEM either! Because I’ve never been to the Schnitzer. Because I don’t have $80+ to spend on concert tickets and it would mean the world to me and my wife, who is also a big Thievery fan. We aren’t planning on going (this is “my year of not going to concerts”) due to the cost. I would LOVE to surprise her with tickets to Thievery. Because I’ve listened to all the Thievery albums and most of the Los Amigos Invisibles albums over and over and over again with headphones so many times and it would be like a freakin’ Portland Psychic Orgasm to win tickets.     I have never seen them in concert but love listening to their music, it’s good for love making or doing housework, it definitely puts me in the mood for whatever I needed to do. I listen to it at the salon as well. I’d be fantastic if I could win their tickets.

    I would love to hear Thievery Corporation!..esp @ the Schnitz! The first time I ever heard of them was from a classy person I looked up to, who’d seen them the night before. His gushing “fucking gorgeous” descriptions sent me to the music store that day to look up their music. Would be nostaligic & “fucking gorgeous” to hear them live. Haha :)
