Rotture

DJ Anjali and The Incredible Kid celebrate nine years of their ANDAZ Bhangra and Bollywood dance parties, fresh from Sasquatch! Festival, where they were the only artists performing every day. Such was the popularity of their three-and-a-half-hour opening night set headlining the dance tent that an additional late-night performance was added, and two of their early slots were expanded by an hour each, meaning nearly eight hours of performances over four days.

ANDAZ is such a Portland institution it is mentioned in the travel guides Best Places Portland 8th Edition and the Moon Handbook Portland; fitting recognition for Portland's longest-running monthly dance party.

The Nine Year Annivesary Celebration of ANDAZ will feature:

*Dance Performance by The Bollywood Project [SEA]
*Bollywood Drag Performance
*Bhangra/Giddha dance lesson by DJ Anjali at 9:30pm
*Dance performance by the Bridgetown Revue
*Live Dholi Adam McCollom
*Live Mixing of Bollywood Visuals
*Twenty-five pounds of Tres Leches Cake!

This will be a night of hardcore Panjabi and UK Bhangra dancefloor
Molotovs, Bollywood/Tollywood/Kollywood percussion riots, and the
latest urban Asian flavors from all corners of the desi diaspora.

the absolute best nights i’ve ever had dancing in portland have been because of dj anjali. i now live in southern california, but the FIRST thing i check when i know i am coming back is if she is spinning. i am so happy my holiday coincides with the anniversary of andaz!

because you guys are AMAZING! I saw you at sasquatch and danced harder than I thought I was even capable of.

Let me just say this: I will not be attending just for the cake. But the Tres Leches will make the most delicious dance party in Portland this Summer that much sweeter! <3

I would DIE to see DJ Anjali and The Incredible Kid again! They were brilliant at Sasquatch! Music Festival this year–so I’ve already been plotting my next opportunity to see these guys. Living in Eugene, I have to pick and choose the concerts I see…but no question about it, I would most definitely drive the two hours for their DJ skillzzz.

You guys were awesome @ Sasquatch! I would totally drive from southern Oregon to see you!

Its my first time after months and months of my friends and boyfriend trying to get me out to see DJ Anjali and the Incredible Kid; I am FINALLY free this weekend. I can’t wait to let go and dance!!

Ever since Anjuli & the kid rocked my sisters wedding, I have dreamt of coming to Portland for one of thier legendary shows. I will finally be in PDX this weekend and will most definitely come to the 9 year anniversary of Andaz!

Choose me! I’m a huge fan, my husband lost his job so we’re broke, and I’m gluten free so I won’t even eat the cake!

I’d love to win tickets so I can learn to dance in a new style.
How better to embarrass my kids? Seriously though, I would have a smiley sweaty wonderful night.

Hi! It is my friends birthday and I wanted to surprise her with a fun-filled Saturday night with DJ Anjali and the Incredible Kid. We celebrated with them on New Years Eve at The Woods in Sellwood and had a fabulous time!! My friend would kill me for sharing this but she is a little down due to recent car accident that is going to cost her quite a bit of money, so I thought that this event for her birthday might cheer her up. Thanks : )

My sister is visiting from a tiny, tiny town in the Bible Belt, where I’m sure dancing is illegal (like Footloose). I want to take her out…kick off her Sunday shoes (or whatever).

  17. Danielle June 30, 2011 at 16:51 #

Sweet! This would be awesome! Totally different!

  18. Anna June 30, 2011 at 16:51 #

I fell in love with Anjali at Renn Fayre at 4 am this year and I NEED to dance to her again!!! This was already in my calendar. Winning tickets would be stellar! Thanks!

Like everyone, I love dj anjali and the incredible Kid, saw them at sasquatch every day and danced as long as they would let me. I also really love cake in any way shape or form and would be certain to capitalize on that portion of the program. I’ve been wanting to go dancing for a few weeks now and rotture is my favorite venue by far, my boyfriend and I have Tuesday’s and wednesdays off so we’d be sure to get doowwwnn. Pick me :) also, Bollywood drag? Yes please.
