@ 3229 NW Pittock Drive

This adventurous exhibit, opening July 16, will focus on the Pittock family and early mountaineering, with all of its risks and glory. Henry Pittock was part of the group that made the first documented climb to the summit of Mt. Hood in 1857, and his daughters, Kate and Lucy, also climbed major Oregon peaks.

Explore a collection of mountaineering artifacts and photographs as well as authentic film footage of a 1912 Mt. Hood climbing expedition which includes a few seconds of Henry Pittock. These are on loan from the Mazamas, a mountaineering organization founded by climbers, including Henry Pittock, at the top of Mt. Hood in 1894.

This exhibit is included with regular admission. Admission is free for members of Pittock Mansion.
