Portland International Beer Festival

There are several beer related events in Portland every week now as July is Oregon Craft Beer month. In less than two weeks from now, the Oregon Brewers Festival kicks off on the waterfront. Can't wait that long? No worries-Portland's International Beer fest is right around the corner. Pipeline friend, Patrick Mochel, took many pictures for us as last year’s fest for us and you can see them below as well as FAQs for this weekend’s festival.

People often say that Portland has the most vibrant urban chicken coop scene in the country. It’s hard to disagree when our own mayor has one. Unlike last year’s Tour de Coops press release, it is not clear whether his chickens will be on the tour this year though.

This is a fun and affordable community event for you, your whole family and all your friends! Chicken owners throughout Portland will open their yards so you can see their coops and meet their chickens.

The Tour de Coops is a self-guided tour; you’ll have the opportunity to visit 22 backyard chicken coops all over East Portland – getting to know your neighbors while learning and sharing urban chicken keeping ideas.

Want to go on the tour? Your ticket to the event is a booklet which includes coop pictures, descriptions, addresses and maps. One booklet is good for a group of people.

The 2011 Bastille Day Block Party at North Portland’s Pix Patisserie is this Saturday! Last year, Pix began moving back their Bastille Celebration one week and now it does not coincide with the Mississippi Street Fair and the Pearl Bastille Day celebration. Win-win for Portland¬Â¦another week with a top-notch Saturday street party.

To celebrate the storming of the Bastille prison in 1789 which spurred the French Revolution (and to have a little fun at the same time) Pix is holding a day/night long block party in front of its North Williams location. Come for live music, a wine drinking 5K, Champagne sabering demo, grape stomping and more.

In addition to the fun and games we are supporting the Oregon Food Bank. This is a FREE community event but in exchange we ask that each attendee bring 2 or more non perishable food items.

For each item donated guests will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win one of 100 gift certificates to local Portland businesses. The more items you bring the more chances you have to win and the more mouths we can feed.

Just in case you get hungry or thirsty at the party, don't worry! In addition to our daily offerings of tasty French pastries, partake in the Champagne & Oyster Bar, Lompoc beer garden and other tasty treats!
