Portland’s Alberta Street Fair This Weekend | Music, Food, Beer, New 2011 Info

Sometimes Portland’s Last Thursday event isn’t enough for Alberta Street, so they put on their an annual street fair. To fight the possibility of rain, they moved it up last year from September to August and this year’s fest takes place this Saturday. Alberta Street will be shut down and there will be three music stages between NE 10th and 30th. They also need day-of volunteers if interested in helping out.

The inaugural Pineapple Classic 5k Obstacle Course Race is in 2 days and we want you to be a part of it! Can you think of a better way to spend a sunny Oregon summer morning than at the Pineapple Classic? A morning outside munching on cinnamon rolls as you wait to pick up your packet, climbing and laughing over obstacles and sharing a beer with your teammates at the luau? We think not!

The 3.1 mile course will be filled with 17 obstacles, some challenging and some just for fun - did we mention the limbo? In case that sounds too easy, your team will receive a fresh pineapple at the start line and MUST have a piece of it to cross the finish line. Throwing the pineapple over an obstacle to a team member, trying to balance it on your head as you run or crawling with it is allowed!

The post-race luau will feature a FREE Hawaiian lunch, FREE Pyramid beer, music and fun. From the luau area you will be able to watch fellow participants stumble, crawl and slide through obstacles. Slide? Yes, the final obstacle will be a 30 foot water slide to cool you off after the ¬Å“grueling¬Â workout you just had.

Day of registration is $60 and will be open from 9:00 – 10:30. Mention PDX Pipeline during registration and save $5!
