@ St. Helen’s Historic Waterfront
Climb aboard as the 6th annual Portland Pirate Festival sets sail for two exciting days of piratical fun and family adventure while we invade the historic waterfront of St. Helens, OR. The Festival weekend begins on Saturday, September 3rd and ends on Sunday, September 4th and features all of the fun and excitement it has become famous for, with the awesome addition of more access for boaters!
The new location in St Helens, OR (Portland's nearest escape and film location for the first Twilight movie) offers a variety of great changes to this staple NW festival, including: a beautiful spot on the Columbia River, an Olde Towne setting and ample moorage for boats at the city docks and on Sand Island.
The Portland Pirate Festival is proud to be helping bring a Tall Ship permanently to the waters of the Columbia and Willamette Rivers. The beautiful 68' Square Tops'l Ketch ¬Å“Royaliste¬Â will be arriving in Portland not long after the festival, in time for Talk Like a Pirate Day, and PPF is lending its support towards helping her make the move from Kentucky Lake.
This wooden hulled sailing ship will serve as a center of maritime education and become an active part of communities and events in the area for decades to come. This year's festival will raffle off a private party on The Royaliste, as well as other prizes, and all proceeds will go towards helping cover the over-land hauling expenses of this exciting relocation effort. PPF LLC will assume a major role in organizing and promoting this unique opportunity year-round. The Royaliste will be brought to us by Margot Productions LLC.
For the kids this year's lineup includes a host of family friendly entertainment, including the giant strolling puppets of Seattle's Zambini Brothers, Let's Pretend's interactive high energy children's theater, Dragon Theater Puppet Shows, scavenger hunts and interactive games with The Pirates of Puget Sound; cannon shows on Thunder Ridge; and giant inflatable rides such as The Kraken‘.

August 16, 2011 at 13:19
So, as a long-standing participant of Plunderathon, I was plundering merrily along this year when to my surprise someone yelled out “Wench!” intending to get _my_ attention. “What scurvy blather be this? ‘Tis a brave soul indeed who thinks to call me ‘wench’ and live to tell the tale!” I replied. “Have ye a weapon then?” the impertinent sailor asked, leeringly. “I have not, but I can still give you a good wallopin.” said I. In my indignation, I told and retold the tale, only to have the tawdry picaroon’s assumptions confirmed again and again. I will not be a wench, I say. So I must get to the Portland Pirate Festival and acquire a suitable weapon this year. Yer assistance be greatly appreciated, or ye may find yerself dancin’ the hempen jig.

Errrrr. I wanna goerrrr
August 17, 2011 at 23:48
I recently moved to Portland and have been thoroughly enjoying the unique activities and events taking place throughout the city over the course of the summer. The Pirate Festival was one of the first events I learned of and has been on my calendar since before I moved here in June. It seems like a perfect opportunity to experience the quirkiness of Oregon while simultaneously learning about a unique aspect of Oregon’s history and something I know very little about, as an East-Coaster.
August 18, 2011 at 15:52
I’d love to go because I’ve never been before. Maybe if I got to go I’ll pillage something or someone or something…
August 18, 2011 at 16:41

Who needs Johnny Depp…or Keith Richards when we have our very own home-grown event. This comes highly recommended by some of the potters at the Blues Festival!
August 18, 2011 at 21:02
I would love tickets because that is the weekend of my 28th birthday that I am not really looking forward to. It would give me something extremely fun to do for the weekend, and something my son and I would have a blast at!
August 18, 2011 at 22:04
The fun never stops in Portland! My girls would love to go to Pirate Fest, and they can do so if their chaperones are paid for! It is important that Ivy and Hilda (10 and 12) see that females can be rough and tumble marines, and not just grody wenches! We love Portland Lady Pirates!!!!
Coincidentally, their chaperones would also LOVE to attend this Portland tradition! YAAAAARGH!
August 18, 2011 at 22:20

August 19, 2011 at 06:28
My husband has gone to the pirate festival every year since it opened at St. Johns. This year it seems unlikely we will be able to afford for him to go. I would love to surprise him with 2 tickets and keep the tradition going.
August 19, 2011 at 09:07
We’re hoping to get our friend to take us to the Pirate Festival by boat. Free tickets can help smooth that out. We’ll be in costume, and flying a small pirate flag.

August 20, 2011 at 10:05
Aye! I’ve been a pirate since I lived back in Georgia, but I’ve always happened to be out of town. Now I’m free of the shackles of the undergraduate system, and am hell-bent on reachin’ those waters!
August 20, 2011 at 11:45
Corsets. ‘Nuff said.
August 20, 2011 at 11:52
Truly, the importance of the event is exposure to the maritime traditions, and of bringing a tall ship to a Columbia/Willamette homeport. I am really excited at attending this with family and friends. Light-hearted fun, though we all know piracy will get you hung from the crosstrees or the gibbet.
August 21, 2011 at 20:18

August 25, 2011 at 01:31
I would love to attend this! Recently moved to Portland, and I’m trying to go to as many fun festivals as possible! I bet this festival is ten times better than Seattle’s Seafair pirate spectacle… would love to know for sure! ;o)
