Based in Duluth, Minnesota, USA, Low comprises Alan Sparhawk (vocals/guitar/keyboards), his wife Mimi Parker (percussion/vocals) and Zak Sally (bass/keyboards). Formed in 1993, Low were initially influenced by Brian Eno and Joy Division and “the boredom of living in Duluth”.
The band is known for their minimal, hypnotic instrumentation and reverb-laced vocals, similar to the slow-burning power of Morphine. Now, almost 18 years later, the band welcomes the release of their latest album “C’mon”–a succinct piece comprised of new material written on and off the road. Seeing as how the ten-song set was recorded in a former Catholic church, we’re quite certain the group will feel at home when they return to the Aladdin Theater’s heavenly chamber.

I’d love to win these tix so I could take my dear friend, who also happens to be a HUGE Low fan!!! Many thanks!! :
Low. very mellow. I can’t wait to see ‘em!
I would love to win these tickets because I have never seen Low and I know someone who would also love to finally see them after many many years of being a fan from afar. Drums and Guns has definitely been a personal songwriting influence of mine!
Not having a seat to see a band like LOW would be a shame and is why I have avoided seeing them in clubs. A huddle of people sitting in front of the stage or talking at the bar is disrespectful & not the right setup for this band. A theater is a perfect setting. This theater within walking distance of my house is even better. Pick me. I’ll turn my cell phone off with out being told and promise to only whisper.Shhhhhhh!
Ever since my hippie days living on Lake Superior in far Northern Wisconsin, I have been fascinated by Duluth and the music and culture from there. I guess you could cal it frozen brain syndrome but that doesn’t do justice to Low and the beauty of the music they make. Seeing them here in Portland would go a long way towards thawing my haid!
Missed Low last time they were in town due to work. Can’t wait to hear some C’mon songs live!
I fell in love with Low during the Curtain Hit’s the Cast tour.
I remember sitting near the group at Stage Four and just being amazed by the beautiful sounds tapping my eardrums. When Sophia came into my life we shared this love and now Low has a very near place to my heart and our relationship.
The Aladdin is the venue that Low has played where much of our love for Low grew together. It is so magical there and it is a wonderful way to listen to this group. Seated and allowing oneself to be overtaken by these superb and thoughtful sounds.
We would love these tickets for sure.
I hope to win these tickets so that my husband and I can see Low together for the first time!
I have been listening to Low since I first heard Long Division at a friends house and since that time I have purchased every album on its release date in my local record store.
Through the years, I’ve had the pleasure of seeing Low in six states at venues that ranged from glorified bars to beautiful theaters and have never been disappointed. Now, working as a part-time college instructor I’m a bit summer-poor and free tickets would be quite a boon to me.
Plus, it’s hard to drag my lazy boyfriend to shows, but he can’t argue with free.
I’ve loved Low for I can’t remember how long, and the Aladdin is my favorite venue in town. Heaven is the word.
I’m more of a metal guy.
Have never seen Low and love to experience new music. Thanks for the opportunity.
I am not familiar but it sounds like my kind of music. I’m sure they would love to have a new fan like me!! And of course the Alladin is my fav venue. Thanks!
I am sure I’ve got a shot……
It would be great to go see a new band with my husband…
I’ve never seen Low in concert but it would be so awesooome to see them at the Aladdin – pretty much the best venue in town. Thanks in advance for picking me!!!
I’d love to see Low because their music depresses me in a really beautiful way…exactly how I want to feel.
I <3 Bachelorette, music, and the Aladdin.
This would be priceless. I would love to go!
Huge fan of Low… would mean a lot to go! Thanks!
If you don’t give me tickets then I’ll have to buy them, and that means I’ll need a job…
Low would be the perfect gig to catch as a harbinger of autumn. Crisp air and leaves tumbling down to the mellow strains of their wistful tunes.
I LOVE Bachelorette!
Try to Sleep!
Glacial and ethereal, the sounds produced by Alan, Mimi, and Zak transport me to a realm where I’ve been reduced to the size of a single grain of sand and I’m tasked with charting unvisited portions of the heart. Sometimes foreboding, other times bright and twinkling, the sentiments expressed through their music are palpable physically. I want to witness this live!
Finally! A show where I don’t have to feel bad about not dancing. Or smiling.
I would like to give one of these tickets to a friend of mine in the hope that she will be so grateful I will get a bite of the cookie. It has been a long, cookie-less spell, if you know what I mean.
