Come one, come all to the Swashbuckler's Ball! PDXYAR, Portland's premiere pirate organization and The Dread Ship Outrageous Fortune are proud to present this second annual fundraiser where you can kick up your noggin' boots and party like it's1699. This rollicking event features music, food, drinks, dancing, and fabulous raffle prizes–all for a good cause.
Proceeds for the event will benefit the Oregon Humane Society, who last year alone found homes for over 11,000 animals. So let's raise a tankard to all of those wayward seadogs and freebootin' felinesin celebration of all thing merry and piratical! The evening's festivities will include music on the main stage from such piratical greats as The PirateCharles, Chervona and The Bilgerats and Pyrettes.
But this year, we are pleased to announce a special performance in our newly revamped ¬ËœBelowdecks Bar' from the fabulous ladies of Critical Hit Burlesque, who will present a special, never-before-seen performance entitled “Pirates of the High Tease”.
Event sponsor, Jupiter Hotel has some special room rates to accommodate out-of-town scallywags. Located a mere 10 minute walk from the Melody Ballroom (NOTE: walking times my vary with the amount of rum consumed), it makes for a perfect alternative to getting behind the wheel of your sloop and returning to your home port.

Not to mention I am a HUGE fan of Burlesque.. as well as supporting important causes like the Humane Society. We just moved to the area and this would be a great way to have a few drinks and a great time with some of our new community members! :)

Last weekend I took a ton of doggie stuff (toys, food dishes, a dog pillow, a dog quilt) and donated it to the Humane society. I had a Lab and he passed away in 2008. Everything was lovingly washed and packed and dropped off. Then I stayed and gave hugs and loves to a dog up for adoption – Mr. Wrinkles I believe was his name and told him that he was going to find a very nice home soon. It was a sad but beautiful day and I had tears in my eyes as I left remembering my beloved dog and knowing he would be thrilled that some other dogs were playing with his toys. I would be thrilled to play with some pirates this Saturday and it would be a nice chain of Karma.
