Portland’s 2011 Christmas / Holiday tree arrives this Thursday in Pioneer Square. The lighting is the Friday after Thanksgiving at 5:30PM. If you are going to lighting event, it a good idea to go a bit early as it is rather crowded by 4PM. A description of the lighting event plus more pictures and a video here.

Come downtown to welcome the arrival of Portland’s 75-foot tall Douglas Fir to Portland’s Living Room. Festivities include a visit from Santa, seasonal songs performed by the Dickens Carolers and free hot chocolate!

STIMSON LUMBER TREE ARRIVAL TOMORROW AT PIONEER COURTHOUSE SQUARE!
Tomorrow, November 10 th at Noon, the 2011 Winter Season atthe Square begins with the arrival of Portland's Tree from Stimson Lumber Company! This year's tree is the ninth tree donated by Stimson Lumber Company and was grown on sustainable forestlands near Gaston, Oregon.
The tree began its journey to the Square two days ago with the help of Campbell Crane and RAM Trucking. Upon its arrival at the Square, the 75 foot tall Douglas-fir will be paraded along SW Sixth Avenue along with Santa and Get A Life Marching Band! Once it reaches the Square, Stimson Lumber's Rodney Jacobswill present the Tree to Portland's Mayor Sam Adams and Pioneer Courthouse Square's President PhilKalberer. Enjoy FREE peppermint hot chocolate from Unitus Community Credit Union, seasonal songs by the festive Dickens Carolers, and a sneak peak of Santa!
After a week of reattaching branches and tree limbs, more than 14,000 MULTI COLORED lights will adorn the City's Tree through the New Year. This year's multi colored mixture of red, blue, green, amberand warm white LED lights will utilize 91% less energy and last 50% longer than standard holiday treelights with the help of Portland's own Hollywood Lights

Be Merry at the Square! On the day after Thanksgiving, Portlanders will gather at the Square to celebrate the official start of the season by lighting the spectacular 75ft Tree provided by Stimson Lumber Company. This year’s event will feature a holiday sing-a-long featuring Pink Martini, members of the Oregon Symphony, and the Pacific Youth Choir. With a big tree, lots of lights and a great community sing-a-long this is an event you won’t want to miss!

TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY THIS FRIDAY PORTLAND, OR
This Friday, The Day after Thanksgiving, Pioneer Courthouse Square will host the 27 th Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony presented by SmartPark, brought to you by KGW NewsChannel 8. The Lighting festivities begin at 5:30pm with a community sing-a-long led by Thomas Lauderdale and members of Portland's own Pink Martini. This bustling day Downtown filled with FREE family fun will begin with the Macy's Holiday Parade, premiere shopping at Pioneer Place and classic holiday movies on view throughout the day at the Square.
The day will culminate with Santa, Mayor Sam Adams, City Commissioner Nick Fish and Pioneer Courthouse Square President Phil Kalberer helping to ¬Ëœflip the switch' on the City's 75 foot Douglas Fir tree. This celebration, televised LIVE on KGW will be hosted by KGW news anchors BrendaBraxton and Russ Lewis along with KINK.fm radio personality Dave Scott. Joining Thomas Lauderdale and members of Pink Martini for the community sing-a-long will bemembers of the Oregon Symphony and the Pacific Youth Choir.
FREE Songbooks for the community sing-a-long, created by Thomas Lauderdale, will be available at the event while supplies last! In partnership with Portland's-own Hollywood Lights, this year's tree will illuminate with more than14,000 multi colored LED lights – spanning 2.5 miles in length and feature a new Star on top!
