We Are The Tide, the sophomore album from Portland-based band Blind Pilot, was released September 13. The album follows the band’s grassroots debut, 3 Rounds and a Sound, which has garnered them critical attention on NPR, which included them in their “Best Music of 2008″ roundup, stating, “a roots-pop duo which bathes its terrific songs in ingratiating harmonies and understated instrumentation.
The result is endlessly engaging: There’s not a dud on 3 Rounds and a Sound, and a ludicrous abundance of replay-worthy ringers.” Moreover, the album also received praise from USA Today, the Boston Globe, the New York Post and the Philadelphia Inquirer, which called the music “…a rustic reverie.”
The fiercely independent creative culture that thrives in the Pacific Northwest has, of late, been receiving an upsurge of deserved attention, and for good reason. No band in the region embodies independence, practices innovative, artful living and is dedicated to their craft more than Point Juncture, WA., a collaboration between four Portland, OR. songwriters, instrumentalists, recording engineers, and friends: Amanda Spring (vocals, drums) Victor Nash (keyboards, vocals) Skyler Norwood (guitar, vibraphone) and Wilson Vediner (guitar).

I would love to win because it’s the day before Thanksgiving — I’m thankful for Blind Pilot’s gorgeous latest album, their ethereal live shows and all-around folksy sound. (I’m also thankful for PDX Pipeline holding these great contests each week!)
You better believe I’d be grateful if I won this contest!
November 16, 2011 at 16:39
It would be awesome to win because I have loved Blind Pilot since their first album was released and listened to their story on NPR about how they toured by bicycle! Also, I plan on purchasing tickets if I don’t win, because I kind of need to see them.
November 16, 2011 at 18:14
I’m legally obligated to be at the show, that’s all I’m allowed to say…

November 17, 2011 at 10:04
I want to see Blind Pilot because they’re great, and I missed my chance to see them during Musicfest NW. Also, Point Juncture, WA are one of my favorite local bands.

Blind Pilot showed up on my radar a few years back and it’s a delight to see they’re finally getting noticed. They’re amazing, and I’d love to see them!

November 17, 2011 at 11:51

November 17, 2011 at 13:21
I have a friend coming in town for the Thanksgiving holiday. What better way to welcome him to Portland than with a show at the Crystal Ballroom featuring local, homegrown bands!

I’ve listened to their cd every day for the past two months!!
November 17, 2011 at 16:00

November 17, 2011 at 17:54
Really dig Blind Pilot’s sound and have heard great things about Point Juncture, WA, the band. Not so much about the place. Not that I have heard bad things just didn’t really know there was a place called Point Juncture, WA until I heard about the band. I’m sure it’s a lovely place with lovely people, trees and dogs and cats and stuff. Maybe if I don’t win the tickets, I’ll visit Point Juncture, maybe.

What a Show, what a Contest, what was I saying?
November 17, 2011 at 20:43
What a great venue…pick me!
November 17, 2011 at 20:53
I’m a new Pacific Northwestern resident, and was lucky enough to see Blind Pilot at their very first show of their tour in Astoria, OR, surrounded by some of the band members enthusiastic family and friends… The energy was so warm and welcoming; I sunk right in to the community vibe and great tunes, and was on my feet dancing.
I told my partner about the show and swore we had to see them again– he is moving here and joining me on the 20th, and we’ll be in Portland the night of the show. Could it be a more perfect coincidence?
I haven’t gotten to experience what Portland has to offer yet, and I’m hoping to win these tickets to set me off on the right foot– with Blind Pilot leading the way!

November 18, 2011 at 15:13
I’d love to see Blind Pilot!
November 18, 2011 at 15:26
… because they came on Pandora while I was thinking of something to type.
“It was poison in the land …”
November 18, 2011 at 16:54
“Oviedo” was not only strangely the same name of the small town in Florida I grew up in, but I frequently listened to it (and the whole Three Rounds and a Sound album, which was just incredible) on repeat in 2008 while I was struggling with depression. It was so soothing, yet uplifting. Would love to see them.
If you haven’t heard of them, download a song or two. You will be hooked.
November 19, 2011 at 07:41
I would love to win tickets because I want to see them live! My friend and I would have so much fun.
November 19, 2011 at 11:42
1) I’ve never seen them live. 2) When their new album was available to stream on the New York Times website, I listened to it countless times.
I’d love to see them perform their new material live!
November 19, 2011 at 13:24
I’m unemployed like a lot of people out there right now, and so I don’t have money to do stuff really, especially go to shows. It would be nice to win tickets to this show so that I could have something to do on Wednesday after I spend all day looking for a job. Please, I will even run a mile in this cold weather we have been experiencing lately, while wearing only my boxers and a pair of shoes! I’m just bored and have nothing to do that day, or any day really. Please help!
November 19, 2011 at 13:54
Sometimes I love everyone, even you, and you, and you, and you, and you, and you, and you…………
November 19, 2011 at 21:07
I think you should pick me so I can enjoy some great, live music that is right down the street AND it will be a great b-day gift to my cousin!

I’d like to win these ’cause I’m applying for them the day the drawing is and probably don’t have any hope. Also; it’d be real neat to see my new favorite song (Half-Moon) performed live.
