Derrick Carter is widely acknowledged as one of the best DJs in the world. With innovative productions, flawless technical skills and an effortlessly joyful attitude of rocking a crowd, his influence has infiltrated throughout the spectrum of dance music.
Although known as one of the key players of Chicago’s house music wave in the ’90s, Derrick Carter began DJ’ing at the age of nine, spinning disco records at family reunions. Raised in the western suburbs, Derrick was into music from a young age; during his teens Chicago’s house scene sucked him in for good and before long he became a strong presence in the city’s underground dance scene.
Derrick’s sets are rooted in house, but he freely travels outside conformative club tastes, seamlessly incorporating old-school disco, soul, jazz, and whatever else catches his fancy to jack the beat and rock the party.

Hook me up. I’ve seen DC on the east coast many times back in the day. And, as a part of the 99%, the man should give me what’s comin’!

I’m a Chicago native, and I love Derrick Carter’s HOUSE. Plus, Mercedes is a local heavyweight, guaranteed to move my feet! She plays and dances with such high, positive energy, it’s absolutely contagious!

I have wanted to see Derrick ever since I was turned onto his label Classic Record’s back in 2000. I later bought his 5 year awaited album “Squaredancing in a Round House” This was one of the best album’s I had ever owned or listened to. Sadly the album was jacked by a friend who was seeking retribution for some lost audio cords. “Really”?. I stupidly gave the album to him after being bullied. I freaking cried that’s how much the album meant to me and told him I felt that I had given him a part of my soul. He really didn’t understand it. Since then I have sworn to see him in person. And to someday gain the album again. Please help me to get back what I lost on that day.

Derrick has been a huge inspiration to me and what house music is today. I remember the first time he came to Portland. It had to have been around 1994 at a rave called Leprechaun Land 2. He played non stop on three decks for like 5 hours. Incredible! Would love to win tix.

I am prepared to have to return to the Refuge the next day to pick up my booty that I left on the dance floor. Would love to make it to this, current student status leaving me a little dry in the cash zone.
