The story of The Wizard of OZ has inspired many people for generations. On December
2nd, AMP Theater presents a Holiday Edition production based off of this story. Wizard of OZ Aerial Arts and Burlesque is a collaboration of many different performers and musicians throughout the Portland area lead by Artistic Director Harper Chang.
This is a production of beauty, strength, and grace following the storyline of the 1939 movie. The live band consists of Jason Reichert on guitar, Anthony Bittner on bass, Kirch Hertel on drums, Carmen Everingham on cello, and Michael McGuire on saxophone. They will not only cover, but sketch the kaleidoscope-ing sound-scapes of Pink Floyd's album, The Dark Side of the Moon, with a viciously blissful interpretation as they accompany the performers in a journey through the Land of OZ.
Aerial Art performances include a Wicked Witch of the West (Talia Risa) flying through the air in death defying heights on aerial silks. Engage yourself as the Scarecrow (Emilie Arbaugh) tipsy -turvys above the audience displaying the most impossible acrobatic moves on a single rope. The strength enduring Tin Man (Amanda Bazille) will be performing straps with a sense of artistic grace. Watch carefully, as the Lion (Mandy Stockholm) demonstrate incredible style and beauty on the freestanding pole. Emerald City Fire Girl (Lark) will dazzle you with her flaming fierce fire fans. Gasp, as a duo of mischievous Flying Monkeys (Jolene Dickerson and Petra Delarocha) undoubtedly play tricks on the static trapeze. And watch in awe, as The Wizard of OZ (Sara T. Hill) floats
in mid-air on the ¬Å“hot air balloon¬Â aerial hoop.
Burlesque performances by the amazing and beautiful Sandria Dore as Dorothy, her classic pin-up burlesque style with a hint of flirtatious humor will entrance us all. And the delicious Angelique DeVil's upbeat, pop-n'-lock neo-burlesque dance style will bring an energetic atmosphere to the production as Glinda, The Good Witch of the North.
Verso Vice, our Master of Ceremonies and OZ historian, will command us through this fantastical, wicked journey from Kansas to the Land of OZ, from reality into our dreams.

I was Dorothy in my high school play! Would
LOVE to see the adult version :)
I can’t think of a reason why someone would /not/ want to attend this. Aerial arts? Burlesque? Live Music? Pink Floyd? I’m in — send those tickets to me!
This sounds amazing!
Sexy witches. That’s enough of a reason.
I love the Dark Side to Oz so much that I acutally drove to SF to see Poor Man’s Play it at The Fillmore a couple of weeks ago. (I even own a handmade “Dark Side Dorothy” costume.) AMP Theater is a crazy, talented group and I’d love to be a part of their rendition. This will be spectacular.
I’d love to see this show.
How could you not want to see this? A high flying land of Oz accompanied by a stellar list of performers playing Dark Side sounds absolutely amazing. To top it all off, it’s at the beautiful Bossanova! Can’t think of a better way to spend the first Friday of the Christmas season.
Needing a good reason to go see this is like needing a good reason to breathe oxygen.
Can you think of a better way to celebrate your birthday than with the cast and musicians of such a wonderful offering? It my birthday and I can not. Add in the wonderful crowd and this will be better than anything else in Portland that night!
Flying monkeys reinterpreted in burlesque aerial? How could I not want to see this?

Hailing from Kansas, The Wizard of Oz is near and dear to my heart, so seeing this burlesque version would be delightful!
