StarChefs.comâ„¢, the award-winning online magazine for culinary insiders, is thrilled to announce its Portland Rising Stars winners for 2011. The winning chefs will be showcased at the StarChefs.com Rising Stars Revue on Monday, December 5, 2011, from 7pm to 10pm at The Nines Hotel.

Hosted by Chef Matt Christianson of Urban Farmer, the walk-around tasting gala gives diners the opportunity to sample dishes from StarChefs.com's Portland tastings, with beverage pairings by the winning sommeliers and mixologists, in one location, for one night only. This is the first year StarChefs.com has held a Rising Star Revue in Portland.

The Rising Stars awards recognize up-and-coming chefs, pastry chefs, sommeliers, and mixologists from around the country that represent future leaders of the national culinary scene. Each year StarChefs.com selects four American cities in which to name its Rising Stars. Candidates are nominated by the StarChefs.com Advisory Board, previous winners, local media, and the StarChefs.com website, as well as through StarChefs.com's editorial research. Winners are then chosen by the StarChefs.com editorial team.

  14. April November 29, 2011 at 17:03 #

A lot of emergency issues came up this month so a free night out would be great.

  15. jewel November 29, 2011 at 17:05 #

My coworker thinks I should win these tickets because he’d like me to bring more ideas back to our “lab” where we’ve cranked out magical goodies including Cake ‘n Bacon & Bourbon on Bourbon Pumpkin Pie. It’s a simple kitchen in an warehouse office and we all know developers need fuel.

  16. uyen November 29, 2011 at 17:06 #

my boyfriend and I love food. He’s currently in culinary school and I’m in between jobs so our fine dinning budget is nil. We love good food and wish we could afford to try great food.

  17. Eric November 29, 2011 at 17:11 #

I had nothing to do with Jewel entering this contest, and I’m definitely not trying to boost our odds.

  18. marisa November 29, 2011 at 17:18 #

    What a cool event

  23. Hilary A November 29, 2011 at 20:12 #

StarChefs.com certainly knows how to turn the Monday frown upside down with their Rising Stars Revue. We are living in a yumsters paradise here in Portland. Let’s toast our talented, dedicated, hard working chefs, pastry pros, mixologists and sommeliers. To cordial cordials and relish to relish. Meat to eat and bread to break. We shall trumpet the crumpet, while we clink the drink, savor the flavors and sing of wine in the City of Roses. Looking forward to the Monday gala at the top o’ The Nines…

I find moments like this, of the sharing of community and feasting, to be the greater moments of living. And what better time for an event like this to be put on than at the kickoff of the Christmas season. We’ve just come through the dining of Thanksgiving, what better way to keep the food coming than to gather around with the best of Portland’s chefs and mingle while we feast.

Thank the God’s it’s the Holidays.

  27. Julie November 29, 2011 at 21:16 #

As a substitute teacher, I rarely have the funds to treat my bf for a night out. This sounds like a fabulous opportunity to do just that while sampling the best Portland’s restaurants have to offer. Fingers are crossed!

  28. Alyssa November 29, 2011 at 21:25 #

  30. Lisa November 29, 2011 at 22:47 #

I have a confession: I F*CKIN’ LOVE FOOOOOOD!! I WOULD BE ABSOLUTELY BLOODY BLESSED TO TASTE THE CREATIONS COMING OUT OF THESE CHEF’S KITCHENS. As an aspiring chef, working a 2nd job at a shi**y local diner, I dream to one day serve under (and become) some of these chefs, and this would be an amazing opportunity to both sample some scrumptious vittles as well as network (carpe diem).

    Thanks for this opportunity!

  45. Spencer December 1, 2011 at 15:25 #

Can you say “tasty”? That’s why. Tasty food, well prepared!

  61. Kristen December 1, 2011 at 22:28 #

I enjoy The Nines and good food and drink, so would love to take my girl friend out for an evening to help kick off the Christmas Holiday Season, and I would invite her uncle to come along with us since he enjoys The Nines too. Of course we would have to buy one ticket if he can come, but that is just fine for such a fun event. I would invite others too, since good food and drink go well with good company. Enjoy the Holidays Everyone in the PDX Pipeline Family :)

  64. Thy Thy December 1, 2011 at 23:13 #

I’m a graduate of The Oregon Culinary Institute(baking and Pastry) and I have a passion for food as well. I just signed up and this is my first time entering a contest through you guys, so it’s no biggie if I don’t win because I’ll keep entering :)
