Philly’s Phunkestra continues their 1st Thursday Phunktion at The Goodfoot with special guests TapWater!
You can expect a show that's filled to bursting point with funk, soul and plenty of horns! Add some Tapwater to this mix, who seamlessly weave rock, bluegrass, Brazillian and more into a body moving experience that should fit in nicely at a Phunktion!

From the rich jazz and jam band corners of Chicago to New Orleans' heavy Southern funk tradition comes Philly's Phunkestra Soul Orchestra, an eight-piece rhythm and horn jazz orchestra. Experimenting with a sound both boldly imaginative and well seasoned, the Phunkestra's members are unafraid to congeal classically trained chords to modern pop influence, resulting in songs that are warmly toned and tinged with the George Clinton school of atypical.

Philly’s Phunkestra has shared the stages with acts such as Dumpstaphunk, Questlove (from the Roots), Fitz and the Tantrums, Rebirth Brass Band, Galactic, members of March Fourth Marching Band, The Wailers (of Bob Marley), and appearances in the Soul’d Out Festival, 2011 PDX Jazzfest, Oregon Brewer’s Festival, and the Organic Brewer’s Festival in Portland, Oregon.

TapWater is a live “World Twang” experience out of Portland, OR bringing musical inspiration from around the world right back home to your front porch. TapWater relies on smart songwriting, polished musicianship and knockout performances to keep you coming back for more. The band’s homegrown humor and down-to-earth style complement the sound seamlessly, and create a live show that is particularly appealing to people who have tired of mainstream pop. World Twang is here …TapWater is here!
