The most famous Mardi Gras in the United States occurs in New Orleans - this year on February 21st. However it is celebrated all over Louisiana and the Gulf Coast. Other countries in Europe, South America, and the tropics also celebrate Carnival season.

This year's theme: ¬Å“They All Ask'd for You (Audubon Zoo)¬Â

Ride On, volunteer-based organization, will be available for guests or Krewe who are not able to safely drive home. They will drive you home in your car. $15 flat fee for anywhere in Portland proper. 503-235-RIDE www.rideonportland.org

Why do I want tickets? So I can act like a d-bag with everyone else! And I have an amazing rack, so, you do the math ;)

  2.   Phil Says:

This would be perfect for me & the wife. We can bring some legit Southern charm to the proceedings. But, y’know… in a good way. :)

  3.   Michele Says:

I’d love to go get drunk in public instead of staying home and flashing the mirror and throwing beads at myself. ;D

  4.   savannah Says:

Me and my roommates need a good night out with a sweaty, flashy, beaded, beaked, drunky, funky, feathered, loud crowd. We love dance and debauchery.

  5.   Bluebluesdancer Says:

Hey! Tomorrow will be Tuesday… I’m fat… and I neeeed some of that deeeeelicious N’Orleans food that they are going to serve at Mardi Gras!! Pick me! Pick me!! ;-))

  6.   Kent Says:

Why wouldn’t I want to go to this party!? Plus, I have a bunch of beads that need good homes. :)

  7.   Jen Says:

I’d love to go…bedazzled and feathered, naturally. Cheers!

  8.   Shannon Says:

Because I’m a Louisiana native who lives in Portland and I miss New Orleans terribly! There is no where else in the States that has so much charm and soulfulness. I hope to share my love of New Orleans traditions with a community of people who appreciate the city as much as I do, mon chere!

  9.   Kai Says:

I’ve never been to a Mardi Gras party…I feel as though I’m missing out on some classy, top-notch debauchery!

  10.   Marsina Says:

I was all ready to go but got caught by some financial issues and can’t afford to go now. The hubby and I were looking forward to this so much. If we can’t be in New Orleans with family, this would be the next best thing.

  11.   wooshmaster Says:

Tatas, Cans, Jugs, bazongas, hooters, and anything else wholesome that portland with flash at me. Alas even on mardi gras, fat tuesday I’ll take fat chicks. Also this is probably the most crass thing I’ve ever said and I love cajun food

  12.   wez Says:

    Cuz.

  13.   Kelly Says:

I am a NY native who is coming to Portland for the first time Friday-Sunday and would love to see how PDX celebrates Mardi Gras, and to get to spend some time with some very fun residents of the city.

  14.   Josh Says:

i want those tickets! reasons why: i like beer, i like whiskey, i like new orleans, i wanna get drunk and party! i’ll bring a hot date!

  15.   Al Says:

I’ve never been to a mardi gras party, I would love to go!!

  16.   Katherine Says:

I really want to see my distant cousin perform and have a night out with my husband, something we have not been able to do lately. I am ready to party in Portland!!

  17.   Julie Says:

Please choose me! I’m a veteran of debauchery, and I need to be where it’s encouraged! I haven’t been to New Orleans for Mardi Gras since about 1986… and my tan lines haven’t been the same since! Thank you!!!

  18.   Julia Says:

I would love to win tickets to this party. Considering I lived through a fat tuesday riot in Philadelphia in 2000, I think a non-rioting group party would be lovely.

  19.   AVee Says:

As a Louisiana ex-pat, attending this party would likely mean getting to meet others from my home state which is like my FAVORITE thing. I just wanna call people cher and couillon and have them know what the heck I’m talking about.
Meeting non-LA natives is just as cool, since they tend to think we’re charming, or something.
Plus, maybe there will be some boudin on the buffet table. Aiiiyeee!

*Also, I have lots of beads just collecting dust and I need a reason to wear them with a fancy dress and mask*

  20.   anthony Says:

I would like to win because it would give me a taste of home that I haven’t had in many many years.

  21.   Teagan Walden Says:

I have a hot date and a huge feathered fancy mask with wild costumes to match. We will rock the night away and bring magical enthusiasm to this ruckus party. I have heard nothing but good things and would love to tke part.

  22.   Laura Says:

I have never celebrated Mardi Gras, but I am ready to get crazy! I have no money for tickets, but I am dying to make some bad decisions!

  23.   Karen Says:

because…it’s my birthday!!! and what better way to enter a new decade than dancing in sequence behind a feathered mask…

  24.   Paula Says:

Food, drink and a ride home… All that is missing is my winning tickets! Pick me so I can live like a debacherous girl from New Orleans.

  25.   kim millen Says:

I want to come and paint on people adding flash and bling to this crazy fun evening. Yep, with my masks you can dance all night in comfort and unique creative class. I do bodies so let your imagination go wild. Great entertainment. Let me paint the bands too! So fun! I can paint people ahead of time also! ubpainted.com

  26.   Tom Says:

Je desire de dancer avec ma femme jusqua les alligators venez a la maison. Faissez Bon Temps Roulet !

  27.   Luciano Says:

Because my wife and I love the Big Easy but for as many times as we’ve been, we have never gotten MG! We’re connected with civil rights organizations there, wanted to bring supplies and medicine (wife is a Dr.) in 2005 (if it wasn’t for those damn road blocks), and know it is the people, not the booze, that make the Crescent City a unique gem. Plus, we’re broke!

  28.   Elizabeth Says:

I’ve never been to a Mardi Gras party before. Please please please pick me!

  29.   Matt Laughter Says:

I would like to attend the Mardi Gras Ball because my wife and I enjoy making elaborate costumes. We usually only get to do this around Halloween, so please give us an excuse to put our skills to use!!!!

  30.   Mary Sharp Says:

    Leather & Lace
    and Mardi Gras Face
    This Cat craves and needs
    Can cans and beads
    To drink and eat
    to a Cajun beat
    sounds delicious and fun
So tell me I’ve won !

  31.   Bridget Gesl Says:

This looks like a total fun fest! I have never been to Mardi Gras before, but with my Sister and Cousin living there and attending, it definately is something to experience..even in Portlandia! I’ll bring beads, and I’ve earned my share before. Pick me as “Queen” cause I’ll be dressed in a pink kitty coustume..meow!! Keep Portland weird!!! Pick me!!! Pick me!

  32.   Heidi Says:

Because it’s Mardi Gras!!! Sounds like a good time to me! :)

  33.   Loly LeBlanc Says:

Well I moved from Louisiana 12 years ago and haven’t been to a Mardi Gras since. Would like to debauch with others who won’t say “like Matt LeBlanK? ” when they hear my full name.
I wanna scream THROW ME SOMETHING MISTER in context and eat some tastes of home.
Plus i love dressing up in my favorite colors.
And Steve Kerrin is from my hometown! Maybe he’s jammed with one of my uncles or my grandpa

  34.   lindsey Says:

i’d love to win cause it’s my birthday today, woot! and i’m saving all my celebrating for this weekend! but i’ll also be happy if loly leblanc^ wins cause she’s magic.

  35.   Steph Says:

A chance to go to a Mardi Gras Ball would make my mask and boa happy! They’ve been waiting years for me to give them a good dusting and a night out on the town! Also, the beads I have now are longing for more company. ;) Cheers!

  36.   pamela Says:

Wow! LOVE my husband! He already, unknown to me, entered in French! Rien, quel bon homme il est !

We are native Oregonians as well as native to Portland. He is a musician, who has been fortunate enough to know a FABULOUS player of the squeeze box for decades, who also ended up in a headlining band.We LOVE the music, the people, the energy and purpose…yet like many, economics impeded an easy decisions. We would welcome the the gift but understand others may be more in need and worthy.

    Bénissez tous au carnaval!

  37.   pamela Says:

    Gotta love Tom!

Je desire de dancer avec ma femme jusqua les alligators venez a la maison. Faissez Bon Temps Roulet !

OMGawd! I want to win these ticket so badly!!!
I MADE my own really AWESOME Mardi Gras masks back in December for a Mardi Gras theme masquerade part for New Year’s eve. I made a pair of them for my swweheart and myself! They are made out of leather and extraordinary ornate with feathers and bedazzled to the hilt!

    THANKS!
    Amy

  45.   Nicole Poole Says:

What an awesome way to celebrate fat Tuesday, but on Saturday! No work the next day!

  46.   Liz Says:

This sounds like it would be such a great time! I am 24 and have always had to work on Mardi Gras and have never had the opportunity to celebrate in a real way. It would be such a great farewell to Portland to party like this.

  47.   Jeannie Says:

I need a break. I’ve been staying in the hospital taking care of my dad the last 10 days. I could use the fun! I love Mardi Gras!
