One question? Shouldn’t they change the name to the Oakland Warriors? Would be so much better. Tonight’s game starts at 7PM on CSN & ESPN. If you do not have cable or want a good Portland establishment to enjoy with friends, here are several suggestions from our sponsors.

Preview - Portland Trail Blazers @ Golden State:

By Cain Stoneking

Portland Trailblazers (15-14) @ Golden State Warriors
Wednesday, February 15th, 7:00pm CSNW

Game Notes: Valentine’s was not the most loving day for the Blazers. Not only did they suffer their worst loss of the season, two minutes into the game, LaMarcus landed on a foot of a Wizard and was sent to the floor in tears. Luckily, the x-rays were negative but he won’t be making the trip down to California tonight.

Golden State has been playing better ball as of late but still lacks the developmental talent to be a playoff contender. They sure have had the Blazer’s number the last few years. however. They beat the Blazers earlier this year in Golden State so maybe it will be a revenge game for the Blazers. But without LaMarcus, they are going to find themselves in a rough battle.
The Warriors:

Starting Lineup: Monta Ellis, Stephan Curry, David Lee, Dorell Wright, Andris Biedrins
Bench: Kwame Brown, Domini McGuire, Nate Robinson, Brandon Rush, Ekpe Udoh, Chris Wright

X’s and O’s:

The Blazers will have a tough time without LaMarcus but can still win this game. In past years after a big injury, it has been great to see every Blazer step up. If the Blazers play with as much energy on the road as they do it home, they have a chance to beat a tired a Golden State team. They must close out on shooters and rebound the ball. Last time these two teams met, Curry exploded for 32 points because the Blazers left shooters open. That cannot happen tonight. David Lee didn’t score a lot but he rebounded plenty. Again, the Blazers simply can’t allow that. This is a must win game for them and they need to play with energy and pride.

Advantage Blazers:

He may not be much of an advantage tonight but Craig Smith needs to step up his game as he will see more playing time. It was great seeing Batum do so well in the starting line-up and the Blazers play small. Smith is going to have a chance to go up against one of the better power forwards in the game and he has to lock him down.

Last Words:

The Blazer’s are in a tough stretch. They have lost four out of their last five and play five more games in the next seven days. This will be a gut check week for them and if they are expecting to move up in the standings, they must play well. The All-Star break comes later this month after these five games so the Blazers will have a chance at some rest. Hopefully they will play all out until then.

Games this week:
Los Angeles Clippers – 16th
Atlanta Hawks- 18th
@Los Angeles Lakers - 20th
San Antonio – 21st
