Portland based funk-soul collective Manimalhouse are releasing their long awaited second album, Move Your Soul on Saturday, March 3, 2012. To celebrate, Runaway Productions and Ted's Berbati's Pan is hosting a special edition of its monthly Something Good event with an extended set by its house band Manimalhouse, who will be performing their new album in its entirety. Something Good happens every first Saturday of the month at Ted’s, and is Portland’s only funk and soul night featuring a world class DJ and a live 10 piece band.

As always, DJ Weather will be keeping the party rockin with old school funk, soul and golden era hip hop classics. DJ Eyegrade will provide live video installations, local artists Nate Luna and Eat Cho will be getting nice with the paints, and Portland’s favorite MC, Serge Severe, will join Manimalhouse to help push the party over the top. As if all this wasn’t enough, the night will be hosted by The Doo Doo Funk King himself, Mr. Tony Ozier and will feature guest appearances by Milc (of Load B) and Dust (of Elevated) and support from The Zulu Nation Breakers and Royalfits. This is going to be the best party in town!

Move Your Soul is the result of many months in the studio together creating an album that embodies the sound and spirit of Manimalhouse. It embraces the raw side of classic funk and soul, the joyous sound of New Orleans R&B, and even old-school hip-hop. Songs like “The Real Thing¬Â bring the sexy back to the dance floor, while the title track and “We’re Here To Party” bring a raucous party to a boil.

Manimalhouse features Reyna Mallare and Brody Lowe on vocals, Dave Dernovsek on keyboards, Dan Lee on guitar, Jeff Tummond on bass, Mark Blanding on drums and the powerhouse horn section of Jon Ramm on trombone, Joel Riddell on trumpet and Reid Neuman on saxophone. On Move Your Soul, the group is joined by Portland hip-hop hero Serge Severe, and master percussionist Caton Lyles.

Since 2006, Manimalhouse has been bringing gritty, high energy funk and soul music to dance floors around the Pacific Northwest. Combining the sexy, powerful vocals of Miss Mallare, fresh horn arrangements and non-stop energy, Manimalhouse turns every club into a house party. With the release of Move Your Soul, Manimalhouse is ready to rock the party even harder than ever before. Don’t miss it!

This event is 21+ and a mere 5 bucks! Ted’s is the venue side of Berbati’s Pan and located on Ankeny next to Voodoo Donuts.

How can you resist a band with the name “Manimal House?” I’m new to PDX, don’t know the band, but looking at the profile and listening to the samples, I’d really like to see the show!

You should choose me based on the fact that I have never won tickets to anything, and I am sitting at work waiting for something exciting to take place right now. Besides, who doesnt love “manimal House”?
