Six years after his last solo studio release, Hip-Hop icon and platinum recording artist DJ Quik is back. The Compton, California native returns with his eighth solo studio album on 4/20 with The Book Of David. As a nod to his birth-name, David Blake, this latest release is a candid and insightful project.
Mixing Quik’s legendary beat crafting with his well known gangsta bravado, The Book Of David is a raw representation of Quik as both an evolved recording artist and the mind of the man behind the music, David Blake. The album is entirely produced by DJ Quik and features memorable cameos from Bun B, Ice Cube, Kurupt, Dwele, Suga Free, Jon B, Bizzy Bone and others.
The Book Of David is as multi-faceted as the illustrious creator. Every track provides another gripping chapter to Quik’s prolific discography. The album's lead single, ¬Å“Luv of My Life¬Â featuring Gift Reynolds, is already garnering heavy spins from top regional radio stations, including Los Angeles' Power 106, San Francisco's KMEL, Seattle's KUBE, Phoenix's KKFR and more.
Given that his skills are just as precise now as they were two decades ago, Quik’s music remains relevant and essential. The Book Of David is yet another fine addition to the catalogue of an immensely gifted artist.

I want to see DJ Quick because “Me wanna rip you girl” is one of my favorite songs of all time. FACT
I’ve been down with Quik since Quik is the name. And Celly Cel, you know it’s goin down. I wanna go..pick me, pick me!!
Legends of hip hop!
This would be a magnificant, sweeeet sweet night out with my lover. WishN hard for this to be so, and oh so do I wanna dance!
I grew up on this cat. Can’t believe he is still killing the game!
Dancing! Dancing to great music!
It’s Goin down tonight; tonight it goes down
I will crip walk if I get these tickets
I’ve been a fan of quik and celly since the beginning! Have all of quiks albums, some on cassette, vinyl and cd..I shouldve been on the dvd, since I’ve driven to l.a. twice to check him at the house of blues! ;) I genuinely appreciate both of their love for the craft, and am expecting to be taken to church tomorrow…that’s why I should be chosen for the tix…
I’d love to win these tickets!! My girl needs a night out & I’ve been a fan since 1993! Bossanova is a GORGEOUS venue too!!
Quick register for tix to see DJ Quik,
But I’d rather be slow and methodical that’s how I flow.
Oh dude you don’t even know.
Give my tickets and I can surprise my girlfriend and grow a grill
Tonight its going down!!!!! I have grown up listening Celly cell so to hear he will be here would just cross something else off my bucket list. Help me to achieve that cross off.
I wanna slide into the function, dreads in my hair yellin Celly bump sumpthin!
siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick
put 1 in the air
I listened to the radio broadcast of the 1992 KMEL Summer Jam all day waiting for DJ Quik and 2nd II None to hit the stage. Minutes before they did they advised the radio station to switch from the live feed because it was about to get nasty. I’ve waited 20 years to see his explicit lyrics in person. Is there a radio edit of Mo’ Pussy?
I’d love to see some west coast hip hop this weekend! Dance party!
OM friggin G, DJ Quik is the greatest! So are the Sandpeople! Pretty please with sugar on tooop, gimme some tix!!
I have love for ole skool hip hop and that is something I share with my son who turned 21 recently. I’m constantly telling him that hip hop today isn’t half of what it used to be. Nowadays, its about money, cars and girls and the majority don’t have a true message and don’t even write their own lyrics. WACK!
I know he (Watt) would be syked to see some ole skool, raw kats on stage spittin’ this weekend. These tix would def be for him.
Dj Quik is in motha effin house check it out!
My responsibilities toward Nursing School is the only reason I didn’t purchase these tickets when they went on sale.
To have a true appreciation for music today, it is all based off of music history. Cuts from the 1960s and 70s (and earlier) show their face in a quick blip on a Jay-Z top billboard hit. To truly understand a genre, check out the masters in their field! DJ Quik and Celly Cell are true masters and are major influences for years to come. It would be an amazing treat to see these fabulous artists in full effect.
QUIK IS THE NAME
tiny tiny dark room with water mains running through it, late night Friday, Bay Area 1990′s – I am lying down, huddled by my radio. Remember cassettes – how you could record direct from the radio?? Every Friday, the King Tech WakeUp Show blasted the music I craved and I recorded the FUNKIEST of them on my mix tapes. THAT’s how I found out about DJ Quik! I didn’t know anybody who liked rap, I didn’t run with a crowd, I just love it more than I can ever describe so I listened to KT religiously and recorded. Scribbling down artists when I could, missing out when I couldn’t…only later, sometimes decades later, would I run across the same song again and FINALLY be able to track down a whole album! I still have those tapes – I’ve been a gypsy but they go with me everywhere. Help me celebrate my life-long scavenger hunt of the music I love – it’s true love! This isn’t about image or trying to be something I’m not this love is PURE! DJ Quik is the best of those I recorded, just the sound of his voice makes me happy. I’ll be dancing, spreading joy and fulfilling a lifelong dream!
Thanks for giving out free tickets, sharing the love!
