“The potential of art and fashion to inspire social transformation”

Come Join Modified Style Portland on Sunday, May 6th as they present their fourth annual Fun(d)raiser fashion show benefiting Sisters Of The Road, The Pixie Project and Children’s Healing Arts Project (CHAP). You do not want to miss this as this is NOT your typical fashion show! Modified Style Portland’s Fun(d)raiser works as a vehicle for social change building awareness and inspiring people to get creative, design and be inspired.

With the help of Neuro Drinks, the first truly functional beverage, and over fifty of Portland’s top local designers, you can make a difference while keeping up with the newest fashion trends in sustainability. New to the show this year we are featuring the 24-hour Design Competition and the Neuro Accessory Contest. The accessory contest is based on sustainability: Artists took 100% recyclable Neuro bottles and recycled them again into an accessory to be showcased at the event. By attending, YOU will be able to help Neuro Drinks judge the Accessory Contest and award the winner.

The night will be emceed by Mayoral candidate Jefferson Smith and beats will be spun by Hot Biology.

Our 2012 all-star judges line-up includes:

Alisa Sloan from Portland Picks
Nicole Whitesell of Shop Adorn
Marjorie Skinner of the Portland Mercury
Lizz Basinger of Lizz Basinger Designs
Becky Ross of Becky Ross Designs and Project Runway, season 9
Lindsey Newkirk of Junk to Funk

So mark your calendar and join us at Modified Style Sunday May 6th at Staver Locomotive! There will be tons of raffle items with fabulous prizes, a chance to buy your favorite Fashion creation at the Silent Auction, and a chance to mingle with other socially responsible fashionista’s who are dedicated to helping out the community. This fashion show truly shows it’s both fun and easy to give back.

Staver Locomotive is located at 2537 NW 29th Ave, Portland OR. Doors open at 6pm, Sunday May 6th with the show kicking off at 7pm. For tickets or more info go to www.modifiedstyle.org

I love fashion and I’m debating on whether I should continue my studies within fashion or optometry (love vs money). I have never been to any type of fashion show, but all of my friends come to me for clothing advice and I think I would be great at it. It would be awesome to see how it goes down! Regardless of whether I not I go into the fashion industry I would love Portland to be the next huge part of the fashion industry in the US. I would be stoked to be a small part of the movement!
