Award-winning singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Robin Jackson, known for his wild, theatrical contributions to bands like Vagabond Opera and the March Fourth Marching Band, draws upon the moody spirit of his rain-soaked, Portland, OR home to create an eclectic brew of dreamy, vintage folk-pop in he debut album Dust Diaries.
He celebrates at his Portland release party featuring an all star band with members of The Portland Cello Project, The Eels, March Fourth Marching Band and Vagabond Opera. Y La Bamba’s own Luz Elena Mendoza opens the night. Also featuring a interactive wish making station and more special guests. Admission includes a CD/download card of the new album.
“A catchy and captivating song-crafter…a true storyteller.” – NPR

Awesome! Congrats on your new project!
With 2 kids, getting out on the town is rare…..robin and a few of his musical guests are acquaintences so this would be an amazing show to surprise my deprived husband with! Please!?
Its my birthday this week. It would be so welcome to recieve a treat! Sounds like a great show!
Love The Eels, love Y La Bamba, and who doesn’t love the March Fourth Marching Band?? No brainer.
Ooh, this sounds like a genius collaboration!! Im such a big fan of all these bands! Plus I’m excited to hear Luz Elena’s solo style as well….Oh, and I already have inspiration for their wish making station ;-)
It’s been years since I saw some live music. Seeing this act in a place I had no idea hosted music would make for a great night out!
would love to go
Sounds like a great show! Never been to the ballroom, so that would be rad!
YES!! This would be an absolutely wonderful event to attend!! I’ve never been to the ballroom and think it would be absolutely FANTASTIC to have a free opportunity like this!!!!
I would love to attend, I am in pdx studying for school this summer from Chicago IL and I will be spending my one year wedding anniversary without my husband – this way I could an invite a friend to celebrate with me! I would lovelovelovelove the welcome musical distraction! : )
I have been here in Portland for just over two weeks – my first day I stumbled upon Luz at Zeus Cafe and I went back four straight nights-
Now all I want to do is find the best music that Portland has to offer- this sounds like a real showcase of just that!
Can’t wait .
hmm…i miss the boat fro this one? heard great things about luz. and secret society. help me with this whole two birds, one stone dilemma!
Because I djed at the first show that Y La Bamba ever performed live at, and I’d like to see how far she’s come.
I’d like to win because I’ve never seen a show at Secret Society (and I love that bar) and I’ve loved Y La Bamba ever since I saw them with The Robinsons at The Woods and because I’m a winner (?). ;)
