On June 23rd and 24th 2012, childhood stories come to life in AMP Theater’s adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ Cat in the Hat, Fox in Socks, Thidwick the Big Hearted Moose, and Horton Hears a Who! Told through circus antics and amazing stunts, this thrilling rendition of classic stories will bring nostalgia to old time lovers and excitement to the new.

Original music written and performed live by The AMP Ensemble will transport the audience to Seuss’ world of fantastical imaginings. Watch in jaw dropping awe as the unicycling Cat in the Hat amuses you beyond measure. Sit on the edge of your seat as Thing One and Thing Two cause mischief in contorting ways. Listen to Fox and Knox’s comedic banter as chicks with bricks do tricks with clocks and blocks. Sue sews Crow’s socks in a tangle high above and Goo-Goose brings something special to the dinner table.

Follow the tweedle beetle battle and champion a winner in the paddle battle muddle. Let Thidwick the Big Hearted Moose tug at your heart strings as he never says ‘no’. Follow the struggles of Horton and the Whos, from the tallest building to the deepest oceans, to keep Whoville safe because a person’s a person, no matter how small.

Please join us on this fantastic wonderful adventure for three showings at the Bossanova Ballroom. Tickets are available at: www.bossanovaballroom.com.

    I sat there with Sally,
    We sat there, we too.
And I said, “How I wish we had something to do!”

Too wet to go out, too cold to play ball…
But I made sure we DIDN’T do nothing at all.

I tried to win tickets to a circus display
So that Sally and I could DO something today!

Oh! Wow! My 8-year-old niece is visiting from Colorado this weekend, and I’ve been desperately searching for child-appropriate (yet still Portland-y) things to do with her! This would be unbelievably perfect. Sunday would be my preference, were I to win. *fingers crossed*

  19. Brian June 21, 2012 at 16:47 #

There are way too many lackluster plays made out of children’s lit, but this one sounds like it will be every bit as inventive and fun as the books are. No doubt my two kids will go crazy for it, but mom and dad could use a little Seuss too.

  20. Cory Shird June 21, 2012 at 17:22 #

    Beer is good

  21. Sara Kelly June 21, 2012 at 17:48 #

My family would absolutely love to attend on Sunday night!! My son’s birthday is this summer and what better way to celebrate but watch his favorite stories come to life. This could inspire him to go and do amazing things in theater!!

  22. Pigshoes June 21, 2012 at 18:55 #

The tribe would thoroughly enjoy a G-rated acro show
on Saturday night at 5 pm. Besides being already hooked
on acro, Dr. Suess sounds like good clean fun!

  23. Brian June 21, 2012 at 19:39 #

The first book I ever read was “Hop on Pop” and I’ve been a lifelong Dr. Seuss fan ever since. If you haven’t had the chance to, visit the art museum in San Diego where several of his very large original pieces of art are displayed – they’re AMAZING!

I’d love to go either Saturday or Sunday. I’m as flexible as several of Dr. Seuss’ characters. :)

  30. Anna June 22, 2012 at 12:51 #
