A dance party as spectacular as a Bollywood film itself. Since it’s inception on January 23rd 2010, Jai Ho! has painted the downtown Portland nightlife with bright Bollywood-Bhangra colors, bringing culture to an otherwise dubstep & top40 dominated landscape.

Teleport to the dream city, Mumbai, home to the alluring Bollywood film industry, at the Jai Ho! Dance Party as it celebrates the 50th recurrence on the spring loaded dance floor at Lola’s Room under the Crystal Ballroom.

Bollywood Dreams Entertainment, an LLC founded by inspiring front-man Prashant Kakad, is the production house that has successfully hosted the popular Jai Ho! Dance Party monthly in both Portland & Seattle for 69 rocking shows in the last 2 years.

Prashant, a dancer, DJ, and singer, has a life story that is no less exciting than a Bollywood film; Cornell graduate & Intel engineer who quit his daytime job to pursue his lifelong passion for singing and a dream. That dream? To bring his passion for Indian music & dance to the people of America. Consequently, it is not uncommon for people to feel like they are a part of a Bollywood musical when attending a Jai Ho! Dance Party.

Far beyond a typical nightclub scene, at Jai Ho! the charismatic entertainer Prashant performs for the audience and often leads the crowd in dance routines. Jai Ho! is like a Bollywood film itself! Authentic and crossover Indian Dance Music (mainly Bollywood & Bhangra), complemented with dance lessons, dance performances and LIVE singing – make Jai Ho! an experience where anyone and everyone can join the fun and dance, regardless of age, culture or nationality.

Jai Ho! is presently a monthly dance party on third Saturdays at Chop Suey (Seattle) & last Saturdays at Lola’s Room (Portland). It features a new flavor/theme every month. Over the last two years, it has consistently introduced artists straight from India as well as featured local & touring artists from around the world.

On July 20th 2012, Jai Ho! will launch at The Belasco Theater in Los Angeles making it the first of it’s kind Bollywood-Bhangra dance party to span the entire west coast!

FREE Henna (until 10:00 pm), Signature Chaitini (Chai Martini Cocktail), Bollywood Dance Lessons-Performances make every Jai Ho! an experience of Indian culture like none other while its backbone is a inclusive dance party!

I would like to win the pair of tickets to this event for two special reasons:
    1) When my husband was a young wild buck living in Asia and travelling the world, he once spent two weeks travelling by cab around Uttar Pradesh, accompanied by the cabbie’s one cassette tape: Shah Rukh Khan’s “Dil To Pagal Hai.” Far from getting sick of it, he bought himself a copy at a roadside stand, and when we met he introduced me to this masterpiece. It was my first taste of Bollywood film and dance (not to mention the sexy Mr. Khan) and it’s still one of our favorite road trip albums. I defy anyone not to dance, or at least wiggle, to this album!
    2) It’s my birthday on Thursday. I am pregnant with our first child and I can’t drink, so dancing to some great music seems like the next best thing!

I mistyped my email address in the previous post….corrected!

This is my third attempt to leave a comment! I would like to win these tickets for two special reasons:
    1) When my husband was young and wild he once spent two weeks travelling in a cab around Uttar Pradesh, India. The cabby had only one cassette tape, which he played “day and night”: Shah Rukh Khan’s “Dil To Pagal Hai.” Far from getting sick of it, my husband bought himself a copy at a roadside stand, and introduced me to it when we met years later. It was my first taste of Bollywood music and film (and the sexy Mr. Khan!) and I loved it just as much as him. It’s still one of our favorite road trip albums! You can’t not dance to this music.
    2) This Thursday is my birthday and I am now pregnant with our first child. Since I can’t drink, dancing seems like the next best way to celebrate!

I will wear something shiny and get wild on the dance floor with my rowdy delicious BF!

(you should give tickets to AM and her husband, too).

This sounds like most beautiful evening I could dream of. My soul is brighter just for having briefly imagined it. Just think, I might explode with wonder if its presence emerges in the air that I breathe.

  8. Pritpal June 28, 2012 at 10:08 #

Its fun to dance and bring friends along to show them good time as well and introduce them to Bollywood goodness. :-)

  11. Jennifer June 28, 2012 at 16:21 #

OMG this sounds like so much fun! May I go please?

  12. Chase Cawley June 28, 2012 at 18:12 #

OMG This sounds so fun for so many reasons! I would love to take my cousin to this event, especially for the Dance Lessons lol. If anyone has even seen the show STATE OF THE UNION (with Tracy Ulman), there is a reoccurring sketch where she plays a Bollywood Pharmacist, and every time she explains the side effects of medication to customers, it turns into an awesome Bollywood number. This is right up my alley for me and my cousin! Pick me please :P

  13. BBC Portland June 28, 2012 at 19:15 #

I would love to win because I think DJ Prashant is a genius, and I would also be the oldest person on the dance floor, at least I expect to be.

  14. Jay June 28, 2012 at 23:30 #

I went to last thursday and saw Prashant perform and I was amazing. I would love to take my GF to the 50th celeb as she loves this kind of music. Also, this guy left his day job to pursue his dreams of singing and dancing and bringing bollywood music to the masses. How awesome is that!!

  15. Amy M June 29, 2012 at 07:21 #

If I win, I’ll embrace the Mumbai spirit with reckless abandon.

  16. Sarah B June 29, 2012 at 11:00 #

What an experience, I’d love to win tickets so my friend and I can dance all night

  17. Jennifer Phelps June 29, 2012 at 11:35 #

Oops…Guess I left my comment in the wrong area..I would love tickets because the dancing and performances look amazing…Have been wanting to come to one of these and also to come for dance lessons for over a year now..but somehow we always become too lazy to drive that far, but free tickets or no free tickets, I think we’ll be there regardless this sat..Looks so fun….oh and to BBC Portland (above)..I will be the oldest, not you….
