A Mustache touting accordion player bellows opera from a Victorian hot air balloon while Tesla coils and theremins whistle on stage. The cellos’s begin to duel. A belly dancing chanteuse sings of ancestors and wails to the moon. The Guitarron’s been drinking.
Portland’ own Bohemian Gypsy pop ensemble, Vagabond Opera and Seattle’s infamous and dance-able Abney Park present a wild summer Steampunk extravaganza. Victorian fashion, culture and art mingle with Steam Power, anachronistic technology and really cool outfits for an interactive evening not to be missed. Featuring a Steampunk marketplace, audience interaction and costumes highly encouraged!

I cried a little reading this description. Nothing is more beautiful than the combination of music, dancing, and culture with the mixture of a regal past and an inspiring future. SteamPunk is an experience for the mind and the senses.

One way or another Doc Futuro will be in attendence, but tickets given away would be welcome change from the usual crash and cash grab dirigible pirate ship attack or the temporal manipulation it takes to get a time chariot to materilize in the ballroom without harming bystandards. So for everyones safety those tickets should be mine….mwahahahaaaa.

I LOVE vagabound opera! I have seen them every time they’ve come to portland since I’ve moved here, but unfortunately this summer I’m broke and I can’t afford a ticket to this show. I’d love to go, though!
