Metal Postcard Records will be hosting and curating the labels first USA based independent music and arts festival July 27-29, 2012 at Portland OR Arts Centre “Disjecta”. The festival will combine music and arts across a range of genres from around the world, including acts from MetalPostcard Records and musicians and artists that fit with our aesthetic.

The festival draws its inspiration from the 1979 & 1980 Futurama Festivals (Leeds UK) where a selection of “unknown” bands like Joy Division, Throbbing Gristle, Adam & The Ants , Pil and others ..introduced the world to post punk, and electronica before the genres were even imagined. We also pay homage to the All Tomorrows Parties festivals whose indoor arts and alternative approach to festival line ups has taken out the hippy and added the hip back to the world of festivals.

We are very proud to be working with Portlands premier alt arts centre Disjecta to present not only a range of national and international acts but also the city’s newest and most exciting underground music acts designers artists and more

Underground Indie rock bands? I think I just peed my pants a little bit. I would love to take my best friend. She loves indie rock (as do I) and has never been to a concert. Especially considering the fact the its the middle of summer and theres actually sun outside in portland instead of rain…taking her for free would make it even better.

  7. Laura July 25, 2012 at 13:54 #

  21. Benjamin July 26, 2012 at 18:37 #

I’d like to go because I just watched the Battlestar Galactica episode “Sometimes A Great Notion.” This cannot be a coincidence.

  22. Sian July 26, 2012 at 22:44 #

We felt a little out of place at PDX Pop last weekend. People were actually staring at me for looking “normal.” I was a child fitting right in, in that era in the UK, although my Mother never acknowledged me down at the shops. With my back combed white long hair and sometimes mohican hairstyle, I was a rare sight in my Welsh village. I actually got expelled from school due to my long bus trips up to Leeds. Marc Almond was the DJ at the nightclub we hung out at before he became famous with “Tainted Love” as Soft Cell. As my husband is from the earlier generation, pre punk, it’s not his cup of tea. Therefore, if I don’t win these tickets I will not be going, as the Beer Festival is free :(

  23. Rachel July 27, 2012 at 00:48 #

Sounds really fun. Would love to go! I guess you have to be able to multipy in order to post on here!

  24. Rochelle (Moon Willow) July 27, 2012 at 11:41 #

Wow! How awesome would this be? What a great way to spend my last weekend in Portland!

  25. Ruby July 27, 2012 at 13:02 #

Yes!! I am dying to go to this but light on cash. Please send me, pdxpipeline! :>

  26. Erica July 27, 2012 at 13:42 #

If I can still enter into the drawing, here’s my reason: I’d love to see the foreign bands.

  27. Kim July 27, 2012 at 14:07 #

    Pick me!

  28. Jessica July 27, 2012 at 15:46 #

My boy loves Sometimes A Great Notion, and we really need something special to do with each other right now. Really hope we get picked :). Thank you.
