The HEADWATERS THEATRE (55 NE Farragut St #9 in Portland OR) welcomes Samantha Martin and The Amazing Acro-Cats, one of only four performing house-cat troupes in the U.S, from August 1st to 14th.

The Amazing Acro-Cats will perform their remarkable feats of agility (remarkable because they’re …you know…house cats). They will be pushing carts, riding skateboards, rolling barrels, ringing bells, turning on lights, walking tight ropes, jumping through hoops, and much more!

Come on out to meet little “JAX”! She’s the newest rescue and has purr-trayed great skill as an Acro-Cat. You will be amazed by her unique balancing abilities.

The all cat combo, “The Rock-Cats” have grown in size, style and diversity! Two band members have been added! In addition to Pinky on guitar, Dakota on drums and Nue on keyboards, Hen-diana Jones (who happens to be a chicken) can really peck a tambourine. Band manager, Tuna, decided that every song needs more cowbell so instead of just a jazz ensemble these cats are now into Latin grooves and have an island rhythm section!

Under the careful direction of Master Trainer Samantha Martin, the “greatest show in cat history” (as Tuna references it) offers a unique blend of spectacle, entertainment and public awareness. As a pioneering feline behavioral expert and whisperer, Martin has devoted her life to animal welfare and public education helping people better understand their animal counterparts.

In addition, Samantha has personally fostered and found homes for close to 90 kittens in the last 3 years! These kittens sometimes travel with the Amazing Acro-Cats and are a part of the show as they wait for their ‘fur-ever’ home.

The Amazing Acro-Cats are preening because of all the wonderful experiences they’ve had lately! Not the least of which is a segment in Animal Planet’s “Must Love Cats” currently airing on re-runs. The series highlights exceptional cats and their owners all across the States and the cats are so proud to be a part of this terrific new series. The Amazing Acro-Cats are also in the special Spring 2012 Dogs and Cats edition of National Geographic! Samantha is in great company in this edition with Cesar Millan and others offering their expertise on animal training!

Cat Fancy Magazine Loves The Amazing Acro-Cats with a fabulous article in the April 2011 edition. Read a portion of the article here: http://www.catchannel.com/magazines/catfancy/april-2011/foster-focus.aspx Don’t miss this special opportunity to experience the Amazing Acro-Cats! This show is unlike anything you’ve ever seen !

  56. Aron July 29, 2012 at 15:21 #

A month before I left my home in San Francisco for the road trip I’m currently on, my household held four wonderful cats. But by the day I was ready to leave my house, a month later, it had lost every one of those cuddle-friendly fluff faces. One of my roommates took a cat with him to china to teach english. Another roommate was asked to leave, with one of the cats as a complimentary going-away present. The 3′rd cat got sick and the last cat, and only one that I brought into the house, ran away.

This road trip up the coast has been a self-discovery process for me, as I try to ask myself: what will it take for me to become the crazy cat lady that I’ve always dreamt of being? Will it require being cursed to a life of constantly having to cope with losing the furry companions I’ve grown most close to, or will such tragedies be accompanied with an invaluable sense of inner-peace and oneness with the cycles of life, death, love and loss that could only come from the crazy cat lady lifestyle?

I’m down to very little money left for this road trip and can’t afford the show, but if you are able to provide me with a free ticket, I would graciously accept, because I think this show would help me process and answer these deep existential questions that inevitably come up on the road to cat-lover maturity.

    -Aron

I would love to attend as an educational tool. My fair feline has learned how to “sit”, “shake”, and “up”. We are hung up on “roll over”, and clearing the flaming loop jump. I feel like this show may be the necessary breakthrough material we need to move forward. ~ AriGATO.

  58. Kd July 30, 2012 at 01:29 #

This reminds me of a Japanese photography book I had when I was a kid, real cats dressed up as high school students doing naughty things at school and playing music in a band. This sounds amazing, it would almost be like seeing that book come to life it seems. I would love free tickets!

  59. ron July 30, 2012 at 02:16 #

kitties and cowbells, gotta love it!

  60. SHayna July 30, 2012 at 10:59 #

  62. jared July 30, 2012 at 15:20 #

I’ve always said that the circus is the cat’s meow. Any coincidence that acrobat is an anagram for catboar

  63. Jordana July 30, 2012 at 16:59 #

Holy catnip, Batman. I have to see this. But it will be far more likely I’ll be able to go if tickets are free. Pretty please?

  64. AnEmilyB July 31, 2012 at 23:41 #

Look, I KNOW I slept through Cats the Musical in 1985, but I will be wide awake at this show-I promise!!!

  65. kay August 2, 2012 at 07:46 #

    I’m kind of a cat lady :)

  66. Margo L August 2, 2012 at 14:08 #

The only thing that could possibly combine this amount of awesome and this amount of adorability would be an all-dolphin Olympics, or a Broadway musical about David Bowie starring bonobos. For now, the AcroCats wear the adoresome crown (even though they probably don’t like to have things placed on their heads.)

  67. Andrew Lloyd Webber August 2, 2012 at 14:38 #

I would sooooooo make a musical out of this.

  68. Nate Klett August 2, 2012 at 15:58 #

    This is better than Russia!

  69. Lisa August 2, 2012 at 16:50 #

You had me at cats on skateboards!

  70. Heather J August 2, 2012 at 18:16 #

    Crazy cat lady checking in.

  72. Erin Hardigree August 4, 2012 at 22:11 #

Id love to see them, but am unemployed and cannot afford to go out. Seeing these kitties would make my day! What a wonderful thing, giving shelter cats a new life!

  73. Lauren August 4, 2012 at 22:49 #

    Hi Pdxpipeline,
My little cousin (she’s 12) is coming into town to visit Monday-Saturday, and I have been looking for activities we could enjoy together. Acro-Cats would be awesome! It’s young-adult-friendly and the timing is perfect, with my cousin’s visit and my work schedule. I work weekends, so there are not a lot of times that are good for me to see shows. Also, cats are the best!
