Rocker, balladeer, author and “Classic Songwriter” Award- winner, Ian Hunter has a diamond-studded and matchless repertoire.
Ian Hunter was one of the most inventive rock writers of the early ’70s paving the way for the decade’s “New Wave” with his thought-provoking, honest and gritty songs. As a solo performer he has also succeeded with an impressive catalogue of superb albums and a dedicated following.
Ian Hunter was the musical and lyrical powerhouse in Mott the Hoople, one of rock’s most valuable groups. He subsequently rejected lucrative offers to reform the band and resisted posts with Uriah Heep and The Doors as he carved out an enviable solo repertoire. He has been cited as a major inspiration for numerous artists including The Clash, Def Leppard, Kiss, R.E.M., Oasis, Motley Crue, Blur and Primal Scream. His musical influence remains immeasurable with over 150 different cover versions of songs from his astonishing archive and he has worked with many musical legends including Queen, David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, John Cale, Mick Ronson, David Sanborn and Ringo Starr.
Hunter’s work contains some of the most intelligent lyrics ever penned in rock and roll and he remains a priceless figure on the musical landscape. Classic Rock’s ‘Classic Songwriter Award’ and his recent albums and performances are testament to Ian Hunter’s importance and relentless artistic quality.

I’d like to see Mr. Hunter!
loved him since i was a kid. hubby and i both unemployed and haven’t been out in so very long. this would be a fabulous 5th anniversary gift for us both!
I wanna go because all the young dudes carry the news.
WooHoo! Bring it on. ;-)
Hey! Would love to go. My wife is a big Hunter fan, and a Mott the Hoople CD is the first one she ever owned. Please put me in the hat!
It would be a great surprise for my boyfriend!
A classic artist with so much history and so many great songs. Who would not want to go!
Thanks
I saw Mott the Hoople as a 14 year old on Broadway. I would love to attend the show!
mott the hoople was a great band. great musician.
I think I’m on my third copy of the Welcome to the Club album. I’d love to see him live.
Ian’s song “All of the Good Ones are Taken” was the story of my 20′s. I’d love to see him perform it live.
“To win, comment on this post why you’d like to attend.” There are SO MANY reasons, that it would be a much smaller post if I said why I wouldn’t want to attend! But really – one of my countrymen of whom I am proud will surely take me back to my school days with all the young dudes. (did you see what I did there?)
Wow – what a legend! I love to be see Ian Hunter, especially at a venue with such great acoustics. Thank you for the opportunity to win!
What a class act. It would be an honor to attend his show.
Wow!! Yes!! I have always wanted to see Mott since 1974 when I first heard Ian and the band on vinyl. But alas, the opportunity never arose for me. Been listening to the band and Ian solo for decades now. It would be a real treat to win these tickets as I just cannot afford to buy my way in!! Hope you pick me!! Thanks! Rog
Oh wow… I don’t know what my odds if winning will ultimately be but I would be ecstatic if I were so lucky as to receive tickets! When I was on vacation this summer I picked up a bowl made from a pressed Mott the Hoople record which is now proudly displayed on my bedroom wall. [http://twitpic.com/a7s997]
Whenever I have a bad day at work, I watch his youtube videos. It’s a Mini Mott Vacation.
You know it’s good when you don’t notice that you have closed your eyes and started swaying. It happens every time.
I want to win because CLEVELAND ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!
This would be soooo amazing!! We would love to go!!
Ian Hunter is superb! Who wouldn’t love a night out to this venue in Portland??
Long time Ian Hunter fan, but somehow mysteriously, I’ve never been to see him live. Seeing him at the Aladdin would be amazing.
All the young dudes won’t carry the news that Cleveland Rocks. I used to live in cleveland and people believe his song is what brought the rock hall there. Would love to brag to all my friends I saw him send me plzz
this would be amazing
Sounds like a cool show!
I’ve been working graveyard shift for the last four years. Just for once, it would be nice to do something fun at night!
Mott the Hoople!!!
Ian Hunter @ the Aladdin Theater is certainly a winning combination! I can already see myself there in the comfy seat, with a slice of Pizza, a beer, and a huge smile on my moon face that Ian can see from the stage.
I can only DREAM of seeing Ian!… I’m a long time fan from the days of yore… Mott the Hoople!… the best band!.. & Ian… the greatest song writer/lyricist of all time… his lyrics are brilliant!… & his voice… phenomenal!..& nobody is as cool as dark shades, curly top, Ian! The Alladin would be the perfect intimate venue… but alas I am on SS disability & could never afford the tix… this is why I can only DREAM… but I would give my left ahem to see this fan-tab-u-lust (yes, a fan..no, not Tab Hunter, Ian Hunter..& no, not you lust, me lust!) show! Cleveland does rock but Portland is gonna rock HARDER! Keeping my fingers & toes crossed… Oh the shameless plugging… ME WANT BAAAAD!!
PP- w/sugar on top…;) PS-Wake me up if I’m not DREAMING!…:D
Ian Hunter was the first rock concert I ever attended in 1979. He was the opening act for Blue Oyster Cult on Fayetteville, NC. My college roommate at the time (from UNC-Wilmington) and I went. 33 years later we find ourselves both living in Portland and both really wanting to see this show together.
