The Northwest Film Center announces its second annual benefit screening to raise funds for the 36th Portland International Film Festival (February 7-23, 2012). The event will take place outdoors, under the moonlight on September 6, and includes a screening of the Italian/French film, The 10th Victim at the Hotel Modera in downtown Portland. Attendees can expect to mingle with friends on a balmy summer night, sip wine from Willamette Valley Vineyards, and celebrate while supporting international cinema in the lush outdoor garden environment of the Hotel Modera’s courtyard.
About The 10th Victim:
In the future, the cat and mouse bloodsport of Elio Petri’s Italian/French classic futuristic black comedy cools global temperatures by televising contestants with inherently violent tendencies to hunt and be hunted in return for fame and fortune—if they can survive. The Big Hunt is the most celebrated form of entertainment in which the participants aim to complete ten rounds, five as the hunter, and five as the victim. The survivor of ten rounds is awarded wealth, fame, and early retirement. At the center of this survival story is Marcello Poletti (Marcello Mastroianni) as the victim, reluctant to kill Caroline Meredith (Ursula Andress), the huntress sporting a high caliber shotgun looking to mark her 10th kill live and in front of the cameras and maximize her wealth.
