It’s your once-a-year chance to taste the beers made by Oregon’s finest brewmasters with hops fresh off the vine from the annual mid-August to mid-September Oregon hop harvest.
Minors permitted – Glass sales til 7pm – Drink Ticket sales til 7:30pm. Root Beer + Lemonade for sale-proceeds benefit the Llewellyn Elementary School Foundation. Kid’s activity area from noon-5pm sponsored by the Sellwood Westmoreland Business Alliance. Homebrewing Demo by Portland U-Brew & Pub.

I recently returned to the PNW after a long stint back east.. There are some good beers out there-but NOTHING compares to the fresh hops here at home. And…both of my grandmas (one is 100 years old!!) picked Oregon hops during the Depression. It’s in my blood!!

I have not been to a “fresh hops” beer festival so I am excited and looking forward to this unique festival tasting beer brewed with Oregon home grown hops “fresh off the vine”! Fresh Hops~YUM! I am also love that venue in Sellwood at Oaks Park. Woohoo! I love rides so it gives me the perfect excuse to drink beer, ride rides, play and enjoy the Autumn weather in Sellwood!!! Juggling a 13 month old, keeping a house clean, and working a busy full time job is hard work for my gorgeous husband. He loves local brews and our date nights usually involve a brewery or at least a microbrew at our restaurant of choice. I would love to grab a sitter and take him to this event where he can relax and enjoy himself!! Yay beer!

I would appreciate winning tickets to the Hops Beer Fest only for one reason… They’re a surprise for my DAD ;) My father has been a die-hard fan of Portland and its beauty with home brews since we moved here 23 years ago. He attends every free brew event he can get to and donates to their causes when he can, and at times, when he shouldn’t. I told him i’d spoil him with tickets but in June i was T-boned by an uninsured driver that failed to see a red light …drove into me at 50mph on Columbia Blvd and I suffered bleeding in between my skull and brain, hole in my lung, and fractured clavicle. Before I moved to Portland, I didn’t care much for hoppy beers. Then I got a tattoo of a hop on my ankle (to complement the barley on the other side) and ever since then I’ve loved hops!
If I won the tickets I wouldn’t have to drive all over town to get this fresh hop beer here and that fresh hop beer there and that fresh hop beer over there.

My bday was yesterday and I live in HR. I really wanted to go to Edgefield but they are sold out. My 2nd choice was Oaks park, but then the rides are closed. Then I saw that the Hops fest was at Oaks park. I think that hops and some German food afterwards at Gustav’s is a perfect bday celebration!

It’s my husband’s birthday on Saturday and I’d love to take him beer tasting to make this day extra special.
