    I make jewelry and have always been inspired by mineral an gems in their natural state. My grandpa was a rock hound and I have collected all my life.

    I want to see the eternal wonders of this temporary world.

    Ingredients for a gem:
    Time, the foundation of all change.
    Matter, the foundation of the tangible world.
    Water, the queen of all solvents.
    Patience, the eternal virtue.

    A hot crack opens up on the taffy surface of young planet. Water percolates up and in, dissolving ions and silica into a boiling tincture. Then cooling and patience. Nanoseconds to gigayears, patience. One by one, molecules arrange themselves in a assemblage of order. Time passes. Time passes. Time passes.

    And then a shovel, and then a brilliant blast of never before seen sunlight. The birth of something incredible from the deeps into a incomprehensible world of air and light and hands.

    And then a woman named Tammy works this apogee of creation into a brooch. I’d like to meet Tammy, see her glories, and save $12 in the process.

    Truly an event worthy of gathering my girlies and venturing forth to take it all in and take plenty home to transform into works of art to last a lifetime. We would have that much more to spend on the wonders if we didn’t have to spring for tix :}

    Gems inspire me… the rock & gem museum in Hillsboro is one of my favorite places to ponder the earth’s many strange ways of creating the building blocks of our surroundings, and the ground we stand on.

    Gems, geodes, and minerals inspire the craft building that I do.

    Thank you!
