PARTY IN THE NAME OF ART! For our first annual fund-raising soiree on Friday, December 7, 2012, the Regional Arts & Culture Council is proud to honor Mayor Sam Adams for the vision, leadership and support he continues to provide for culture, creativity, education and innovation. With help from Portland’s talented arts community, we will be sending him out with all of the creative flair and vision that he has given this fair city. Book a cab, lace up your toe shoes and update your Instragram photo app, because you won’t want to miss this one!
IT ALL BEGINS WITH YU. The celebration begins on the lower level of the historic YU Building at 6:30 pm. Here, 400-plus VIP guests will gather for deliciously artful bites and cocktails, while rubbing shoulders with some special buskers – dancers, painters, musicians and more. At 8:00 pm, our patron guests will move upstairs to our version of Theater In The Clouds, complete with stage, theatre-style seating and of course, some thirst-quenching concessions! The show itself? It’s an evening our mayor Sam Adams will NEVER forget (as much as he may want to)! While our director has sworn us to secrecy, here’s a hint: think interactive surprise party. You want another one? Let’s just say that some of Portland’s most renowned dancers, singers, actors and artists are already feverishly preparing for this night. Patron tickets are $175 each. All proceeds benefit The Right Brain Initiative and Work for Art.
DANCE FEVER. At 9:00 pm we’ll open the doors on the main level for several hundred others to join the celebration with a dance party, live art installations and hi-jinx. Yes, we said hi-jinx and it will be zany, too. Both floors will be open for unique entertainment, interactive art experiences, and a disco dance or two with the Mayor. Dance party tickets are $25 each.
GOOD NIGHT! At midnight, all guests will enjoy complimentary breakfast on the upper floor as the party winds down. Feet will be sore, stomachs will be full and cabs will be plentiful.
For tickets and information, visit www.racc.org/party.

Sounds like fun! Pick me.
I’d love to win! Last time I got to meet the mayor, I was a high school kid and he wasn’t the mayor. (No, my name is not Beau.)
It would be an amazing experience to see him in a new setting, and despite living here my entire life, I haven’t had the good fortune to check out the YU building either. Talk about a great event!
Yes yes yes of course I would love to win some tix. Hope I get them :)
Sounds like an awesome event—I would love to attend and support( and dance for) our City, the arts and Sam Adams!
Looks like fun to me!
A dance party celebrating Mayor Sam and the arts? Sign me up!!!
Sam Adams is one of the city’s great mayors, and I for one would be honored to help send him off. Thanks for the opportunity…
Because my partner and I have received “likes” from Sam on our Foursquare activities… thus making us pretty much BFF’s.
I want to go to celebrate the vibrant arts in our dear Portland city & the hard work of Sam Adams.
would love to see this, we volunteer at the Pop Up art gallery here in Salem so just our style
cindy thompson creates wonderful events…RAC is extremely important to our community….this might be THE next annual event, would love to be at the first of many…. a lovely way to say good bye to Sam a big supporter of the arts-
As a passionate supporter of the arts who was recently laid off I would love to attend this event. I have so many friends either attending or performing I would hate to miss this last hurrah for Sam.
Hey it’s my birthday that night! Really it is and I feel the need to dance my ass off …. so pick me.
Red is my favorite color!
i like art and sam.
I LOVE the art museum and schmoozing with Sam. Pick me! Pick me! ;)
midnight chow, my favorite!
This sounds amazing!!! I would love to partake in the zaniness!! Its been a while since Ive busted out my Elaine Benes style dance moves ;-)
How could we miss this? You art to be ashamed if you miss out!
Well if not hi-jinx, certainly some lo-jinx are in order?
Not to be sappy, but I would love to give these to one of my colleagues who works with me at the same Portland non-profit arts organization. He is one of the most vibrant social butterflies that I know, but he’s had to tone it down due to a recent cancer diagnosis. He would LOVE to attend, and I would LOVE to have him there! Cheers!
Anything for the arts!
I feel I should win because it would be a new experience for me and I am a multnomah county employee and love Portland. Portland is very diverse and cultural and love art!!
I will challenge the mayor to a dance-off! I’m good too… you should see a little move I like to call “The Electrocuted Donkey.” Yeah.
Count me in!
Wow. I just read all of that and still don’t exactly know what’s going on. But I want in on it. Thanks.
I love the arts and want to support it. I hope I win!
Thanks!
This sounds like such a fun evening!
This is why I love Portland!!!
Food and dancing I couldn’t ask for more :)
I’m dating an artist and we need the hook-up!
This sounds like a great party. I’m classy and dancey
because it sounds lovely
Truth be told, the main reason I want to win is so my boyfriend and I can see Mr. Mayor’s fantastic moustache in person! (Crossing my fingers he doesn’t shave it now that Movember is over). Also, this is what a fundraiser should be… a mix of classiness, zaniness, and fun! Oh how I do love Portland!
Sounds awesome
Moved here a few weeks ago and would love the opportunity to attend this!!! This is turning out to be an amazing place…what a groovy contest!!
This event sounds amazing and I would love to be a part of it!
Sounds like a good time!
This would be an amazing networking opportunity for me, loads of fun, and supports a good cause. Oh, Portland!
Because art is the fuel of our community
I’ve really been trying(and struggling) to get involved in some great events around this city, and am hoping to soon start a new start-up to help promote the art scene.
Please pick me and help me start off on the right foot.
