I haven’t been to a NYs party since 1994 because all my fabulous gay party pals have almost all since succumbed to AIDS. They were the best godfathers to my son when I was a struggling single mom. It just didn’t seem like a new year was worth celebrating anymore. I had met them at the biggest nightclub in Seattle in the 80s a place called the monastery. I was a model and they loved me for me. Almost a decade went by with my sadness.Just a couple weeks ago Ric Smith one of the last passed after 26 years of suffering he was my sons godfather his 8hr memorial was yesterday. He used his disease to help others and won 2012 Washington State Activist of the year. I decided last night that my life needed a big party and celebration so I could start looking forward to a new year like Ric and the others would want me too. The last I went to was with all of them in 1994 and it was the biggest one in town – sounds like this one. And I will party like its 1994 :-D
Would love to attend this event and be able to support the work of Oregon Active! Such a great organization and they provide amazing opportunities to at-risk youth. Of the people who have commented on here regarding the “party” no one is mentioning what it’s benefiting. Its about supporting a wonderful organization more so than getting a good party out of the deal!
