I love Portland. I love chocolate. I live in a small town many miles from …er…city life and deserve a treat. Plus I’ll be 50 this year, a milestone! A tidbit: When I was growing up, I didn’t really care for chocolate. I only had access to items like Hershey’s kisses and the sort and the chocolste tasted heavy and cloying to me. Once I moved to the city and began my life, I experimented with all kinds of foodstuffs and was amazing at the nuanced and delicate flavors available in the chocolate industry. I am a candy activist, and I must win tickets to the Chocolate Fest, because I am concerned that the chocolates being showcased at the Convention Center, be treated with care, and humane treatment. I must rescue these abused, and neglected confections, from their miserable fates of being trapped in tiny confinements, with no chance to escape!
I have a friend who traveled to Europe planning to spend several hundred dollars on chocolate. He met his dream at the Ritter Sport Chocolate Factory in Germany, buying all kinds of interesting and unique chocolate. Can a Chocolate Festival top that? Bring it on!!!
My best friend has 3 children whom she’s raising on her own with a small budget and earning her degree. She hasn’t any time for herself and deserves it more than anyone. Her husband is currently not around and is unable to support them. She is by far the most amazing woman I know and as a parent she does an outstanding job.
