Before Terror, vocalist Scott Vogel singing for bands Slugfest, Despair, and for Buffalo based hardcore metal act Buried Alive in the mid-90′s. Drummer Nick Jett and ex-guitarist Todd Jones were members of the well-known hardcore band Carry On (who had releases on Bridge Nine and Youngblood Records). Carl Schwartz, formerly of Sworn Vengeance, recorded much of Always the Hard Way after quitting the band to front First Blood full time.

Vogel is widely known in the scene not just for his efforts to keep hardcore “pure” and “fun,” but for his love of stagedives, and for his tendency for bizarre and often hilarious on-stage banter, known colloquially as “Vogelisms”. Examples include: “We need to elevate the maximum stagedive potential”, “Take this shit to the next level”, “Who cares if you’re Christian?”, and “Maximum output! Activate the pit!” Terror also participated in the first two years of the Sounds of the Underground tour. Their new album due out in 2012 is to be titled “Live By The Code.” “Live By The Code” was pushed back to April 2013 and will be released by Victory Records on CD and by Reaper Records for the vinyl. The band explained the decision to go with Victory on their Twitter account, Facebook account and via their official website.

There has been a large reduction of good hardcore shows ever since the unfortunate end of the Satyricon, it will be nice to finally have another good show come through!

I’m 18, but I still like to consider myself as a “youth”. Being young, it becomes increasingly difficult to discover outlets of expression. Many kids turn to drugs, crime, and other things that normally lead them to trouble. I was lucky enough to discover the wonders of punk rock shows. They are cheap, safe, and a ton of fun. Because I’m young and poor, it would mean the world to me to win free tickets to an incredible event like this one.

Super excited about seeing Bane,Terror, Code Orange Kids, Backtrack and Young Turks. Not super excited about taking $15 from the “I just moved to Portland and haven’t found a job yet” fund.

Terror and Backtrack are some of my favorite bands. I spend hours on public Portland transit loving the music and would be amazed to see them live. I am a graphic design college student who’s ready to throw down, stoked on this show, it’d be better to win tickets for myself and or friends.. Broke people who support hardcore!

  11. Daniil February 14, 2013 at 11:02 #

Hardcore is my favorite genre of music and I love all the bands playing. Sadly i’ve never been to a hardcore show and can’t afford tickets, so it’ll be really awesome if i could win, but I’ll be happy for anyone who wins.

Last time I saw Terror was years ago in Ohio at a Halloween show. Mr. Dibbs was there dressed as a Baseball Furies guy from Warriors and moshing with an aluminum baseball bat the entire show, getting more and more reckless with every band. By the time Terror played he almost brained me so I had to climb up a stack of tables to watch from behind the PA. They killed it and I haven’t seen them since.

I never got to see Bane, but a friend would drive everywhere to see them for years, he said the singer cries live and I always wanted to see.
