One evening Sue Lewis, violinist and bandleader of the Portland band Mango Nights, stopped in at Hoda’s to enjoy some Middle Eastern food and was so impressed with the delicious food that she asked to speak with the owners. Hoda, and her husband Hani, happened to be there and came to her table. A great friendship was forged then and there. Hoda and her husband treated Sue like family. After learning that her band performs Middle Eastern music and dance as part of their show, we came up with the idea of combining our talents with food, music and dance for this special event at Hoda’s restaurant.
Hoda’s will be serving Mezza style for the Mango Nights event. Mezza is the word for the many different appetizers that are served in the Middle East for social gatherings.
Mezza will include:
Stuffed grape leaves
Spinach pies/ Sambousek (meat pies)
Chicken breast kabob or beef kabobs
(Drinks and dessert extra)
Hoda uses the finest organic ingredients from local farms such as their 100% natural grass fed beef grown in Oregon. Enjoy a glass of Pinot Noir from Coleman Winery, a family owned winery located in McMinville Oregon. For dessert try the Nights of Lebanon, house white cream with fresh Kiwi, strawberry and blueberries plus almonds and walnuts topped with orange blossom water. In honor of this special event, the bar will be serving Mango Margaritas, made of tequila, rum, mango and lemons. Enjoy a variety of cocktails, beer and wines.
