Melao is the Spanish word for molasses. Melao de Cuba is an 8-person group of talented Portland musicians who come together to share the beauty and exuberance of traditional Cuban music. Salsa music is exemplary of all things Cuban, in the sense it is warm, sensual and easygoing.
Use the conga, horns and cowbell rhythms to take your hips for a journey. Just as molasses is transformed into rum, one of the oldest spirits of the world, Melao de Cuba transforms elements of Afro-Cuban and Spanish music into vibrant, danceable music that lifts your spirit and brings joy to your heart.
Dance lessons with Tony before the concert and an after dance salsa party with DJ Alberto.

Hello! I would love to win these tickets because a) I live in Foster-Powell and I haven’t yet had a chance to see the renovated Bob White theater! and b) Because my fiance teaches Spanish at local colleges and I know he would really enjoy this show. Oh, and c) Because I love to dance and my hips have been aching to sway to some salsa!
Fingers crossed…
¡Ataca!
I would love to win these tickets to take my wife out on a date! We have been wanting to take dance lessons and salsa would be fun to learn!
I would like to finally learn how to dance.
We have danced salsa many times but never to LIVE MUSIC!
This is perfect! My partner and I salsa on our loving room, giving it our own flavor, mostly because neither one of us know how to salsa. What a perfect event to showcase our style and embarrass our friends and family.
