This mobile big band spectacular (known as M4 to fans) is a sonic party of electric bass, a diverse percussion ensemble and a brassy horn section, and a visual kaleidoscope of costumed dancing beauties, acrobatic stilt walkers, fire arts (venue permitting), hula-hoopers, and many more theatrics. The sound is huge, melodic, and dynamic, taking audiences on a musical journey around the globe. MarchFourth writes and performs its own material, and also draws inspiration from an eclectic range of worldwide influences, such as Eastern European gypsy brass, samba, latin, funk, afro-beat, big-band, jazz, and rock music, as well as television, film, circus, and vaudeville. With exceptional musical quality and memorable energy, and the spectacle of the dancers, M4 “rocks” with the best of them while entertaining the audience with an over-the-top explosion of performance, color and charisma.
MarchFourth Marching Band appeals to a wide range of people and has played hundreds of shows in all kinds of venues, including music festivals (Voodoo Experience, Wakarusa, Bumbershoot, SxSW, Lotus Festival, Festival International de Louisianne, Lightning in a Bottle, Oregon Country Fair, High Sierra Music Festival) and high-profile concert venues (Hollywood Bowl, Crystal Ballroom, Kennedy Center for Performing Arts), sporting events (NBA halftime shows, FIFA World Cup fanfest, and Cyclo-cross National Championships), corporate appearances (Volvo, Microsoft, Cricket Mobile), as well as community, civic and private events.

When I first saw M4 while living in LA, I was blown away. I was already considering moving to Portland and their performance sealed the deal. “Yes, these are the kind of people I want to be surrounded by.” Seeing them at the Sunday evening performance would be a great way to celebrate my 1 year anniversary as a Portlander!
Hello! I’d love to attend the Sunday Matinee show with my son, to expose him to more live music in a fun way! Thanks!
OMG! I went a few years ago when I first moved down here from Alaska and haven’t had time to see them since. The 4 pm show would be great to take my gf to, as she’s never been! Cheers!
Oooh! I would so love to surprise my husband by taking him to see MFMB at 4:00. We spent our honeymoon in New Orleans, and he has told me how wonderful this Portland marching band is. It would mean so much to both of us!
I’d love to go to the matinee! My four year old has seen march forth a few times and would squeal if we got to see them again, going to see fancy dancers on stilts is apparently more awesome than going to see yo gabbagabba!
I would love to attend the Monday night show. It sounds like a great way to beat the winter blues!
Nothing rocks the soul like brassy horns and stilt-walkers.
This will be my 10 yr old granddaughter Harmony’s 3rd time seeing M4, and she’s as excited as ever to see them Sunday afternoon. Thanks for giving us a chance to win tickets!
10 Years! I think I first saw them 8 years ago at March Forth Monday at the Doug Fir
March 4th is the quintessential Portland Band, quirky, weird and happy making. I love the sound and the show and will dance all night long at the Anniversary Show on Sunday night. I remember the exact moment I saw them for the first time, standing in an empty lot off Alberta getting ready to march during Last Thursday. Made our month. Thanks for the chance.
Monday night show – sounds like a fun surprise for the boyfriend!
I went to their show at the Crystal last year and it was incredible! Would love to take my boyfriend to the Monday show this year.
I would love to go to the evening show on March 4th. I think they are the best, and my boyfriend has never seen them.
I would like to attend because they are awesome and the show would be great to see. Thanks!!
I would love to go to the Monday show. I just heard about them for the first time last week, and they sound amazing!
Just saw you on JamCruise, but my daughter was left behind. She needs M4 as much as I do. If I won tickets to the March 3rd all ages show, she would get to see how fabulous you are. Keep Portland Wierd!
Absolutely LOVE M4!!! Would thoroughly enjoy free Tix!! Thank You! :)
To the actual Anniversary on March 4th, Please!! :)
March Fourth Marching Band is absolutely one of the best live musical bands I’ve ever had the privileged of getting down and boogieing to. Their creative blend is inspiring! GloBalruckus is one of my most favorite electronic music makers ever, and Gamelan X I saw perform at Burning Man 2011 and was BLOWN AWAY by the incredible sound they showcase! I would adore hearing these performers together on one night, to celebrate with my community, in one of the best venues in town. March 4th evening show, please! XOXO
March 4th is my birthday! No, really!
And since March 4th is my birthday, I’d like to attend on March 4th. What a way to celebrate!
If it really is your birthday, i think you can get in free just by showing your id at the door. It is something that they have done for years.
Who wouldn’t want to win these? March 4th is arguably one of our biggest breakout musical acts! They are weird, awesome, talented and fun!!
I want to go to there…
I’ve been wanting to catch a March Fourth performance forever. Every time I’m either out of town or have prior commitments. It’s sad because they are like a part of my extended family: friends of my friends. I would so love to go to this show.
Oh, and did I mention, my wife’s name is Joy. We love to go to the Sunday show right after our visit to OMSI!
So much going on, it looks like a blast
M4 on M4, of course
booooooogie down! love these guys! i wanna shake my butt at the crystal! sounds like an awesome venue to see these guys! help me celebrate my 21st birthday proper!
I would love to go to the Monday night show at the Crystal! They are so much fun and this would be awesome!
Who doesn’t dig March Fourth? (oh yeah right the world is full of boring peeps- shudder… boring is the ultimate sin). If you could see my smile right now just thinking about it you would fix this contest for me to win! I would dig ANY of these shows (take my wacky kiddo if the early show on Sunday, or find a sexy galdate for the night time fun)- I would be the one with the really HUGE smile and the uber cray-cray… uh, I mean FUNKY moves!
My favorite number is 6. I make art for a living, I have since the mid 90s. The economy is spanking me hard, and I want to have more fun. When my oldest son was 3, he met a March Fourth performer wearing a beautiful flamingo like costume, and he brazenly asked her her name and age. She said 23. He said ‘I’m 3 too!!!’ He kept seeing her perform for years, and declared his everlasting love. 9 years later, he’d like to go and see if she’s still waiting for him. I’d like to go and make sure she isn’t.
I would be such a lucky gal to win these tickets! Awesome local talent, the crystal is always magical, I’m in!!! Come on lucky number 19
Would love to take my kids to Sunday’s All-Ages Matinee. I think that they would have a blast.
I would love tickets to the Sunday matinee, so I could take my daughter to see one of her favorite drummers, Ryan Moore, doing what he does! :o) She’ll be joining a marching band drum line next year, and what a great “out of the box” experience this would be! :o)
This week is the start of midterms…My friend and I deserve a break from studying. Sunday the 3rd works best for us.
I would SO appreciate these passes. Thanks!
I’ve heard about this show, sounds like an amazingly great time, a perfect way to spend a Monday night! Monday! Monday night!!!
Truly inspirational! I would love to take my “marching band niece” to this awesome show. (Mon night please)
WHAT!?!? This is so neat! I have never seen this live but really want to see what it is all about. MONDAYplease.
I’m tempted to bring my tuba . . .
We love to join in with March Fourth because my daughter, Harmony and I are bohemians at heart and feel at home when they come to town:)
Thank you for coming back year after year!!!
If you do choose us, we would love to attend the
March Fourth Marching Band 10 Anniversary Extravaganza

I love dancing my big butt off to March Fourth. I would prefer the Monday event.
Oh man they are great and I have not been able to see them for so long. Let me go please! lol
March Forth is the Best! I saw them for the first time at the Country Fair. And last year I randomly saw them marching through downtown midday. Yes! They embody the spirit of Portland and Oregon. Funky, talented, daring, inventive fabulous fun. I would love to be able to go and bring some of my friends.
bahhhh!!! I’m so excited about this! I would love love love to go to the Monday night show and rock it out M4 style!
I would really like to see the sunday evening show.
I would love to take my son to this, he has been experimenting like mad with pots and pans, getting different sounds!
Please enter me into this contest! I would love to attend this concert. I saw them many times around Portland, but haven’t caught their show in a couple years. I hope to attend this event!
Love to take the wife and 3 yr old!!
A friend is only in town once in a blue moon and this is his favorite band and would make his year. Sunday night please!
I would love to welcome my sweetie back to town with a big band salute ~ he has been on-the-road for weeks ~ Sunday afternoon or Sunday evening would be GREAT!
Please pick me, i would love to see this with my partner.
I’d love to see March Fourth on March 4th. Brings back highscool marching band memories. Although we didn’t have stilts.
what what?? This sounds amazing. A must see. I must see. THIS.
I once found myself boogying down heavily to a March 4th jam, when it struck me I was dancing to a Britney Spears tune. I had a slight cringe, then continued to be one with it all. They rock the house!!! My witch doctor said I need more rocking, so send me their way.
Sunday or Monday
I march, you march, we march….. Really, I want to march with March Fourth on March 4…Please. Love this Band.
all these years, and i’ve never caught them. sadness. help me resolve this, as i gave up sadness for lent.
This sounds absolutely amazing… would be a great way to start my birthday month (yes, month, hee hee :). My husband and I would love to party at either the Sunday 7:30 evening or Monday evening show.
M4 is one of the first bands I saw when I moved to Oregon, and that’s when I knew I came to the right place. I’d love tickets to the 8:30 pm show on Sunday!
March Fourth is the best! I would love to see them on the Monday show!
Yes please! Please let me be the one! I have been stuck in my house day after day, studying working and studying some more. I am going crazy and missing all the dancing and fun that makes Portland so amazing. March 4th band is one of my favorites, and a night of dancing is just what I need to recapture my sanity! I promise to be at the front dancing and sweating and shaking my butt in the name of PDX Pipeline. Help me remember why Portland is truly the place of music and fun to rival no other.
I would love to win a pair of tickes to the 21+ show on March 4th so I can gift them to a couple of friends who wouldn’t otherwise be able to come. I already have my tickets in hand! Good music with great feiends makes for fantastic memories!
They’re phenom .must.see.
I’ve never seen the March 4th Marching Band perform & have been passionately trying to do so since I moved to Portland 14 months ago. I must dance! and know they are the band to dance to – please give me that chance! As a 58-year-old mom, I still rock the house and am the last to leave the dance floor. I would love to see them perform Monday night & promise to represent!
i’m ready to “Rise up, rise up, rise up, rise up, rise up to the sky” and dance to in celebration of the march 4 – the monday, march 4 event.
Happy 10th, 3/4!
I would love to go to either sunday show and the Monday event for a nice weekend break!
Would love to go to either Sunday show and the Monday show for my girls bday!
