Chicago’s Henhouse Prowlers are a scorching bluegrass quartet whose accolades include winning the Rockygrass Band Competition and competing in the Telluride Bluegrass Fest Band Competition!
Dedicated equally to tradition and innovation, The Henhouse Prowlersncenter their sound on that of the formative years of bluegrass, while keeping their pulse on today by covering contemporary topics in a largely original repertoire. The group’s prolific songwriting provides entree to twenty-first century topics not typically tackled by traditional bluegrass groups. At the same time, the Prowlers wear the Bill Monroe mantle with spit and polish, performing in suit-and-tie in a tightly choreographed, one-mic stage setting. Combining passion, confidence and flair with instrumental and vocal prowess, the Prowlers deliver dynamic bluegrass with an edge.
Renegade Stringband is a five-piece ensemble (sometimes six-piece when the wonderful fiddler, Ben Hunter, can join in) based in Portland, Oregon. The band formed in the summer of 2010, uniting around their love of danceable acoustic music and bluesy vocal harmonies. Original music forms the heart of their repertoire, but the band also interprets traditional tunes and the work great American songwriters such as Gillian Welch and Tom Waits. Whether you hear them in a street fair or a concert hall, Renegade Stringband will tickle your wits, soothe your soul, and get your money-maker shaking.
