How long does the battle continue after a soldier returns home?

Marine Captain Elaine Edwards has just returned from her latest tour in Afghanistan but this time things are different – home doesn’t feel right and nothing makes sense. A blow-up fight with her husband propels her to skip town to undertake an Odyssean journey through the American landscape battling her demons and trying to find her way home.

With this newly commissioned play, Oregon playwright Andrea Stolowitz examines coming home from war drawing from interviews with veterans and their families.

James and I are trying to see as much local theatre as we can to discuss in our weekly podcast, but our wallets sometimes preclude us from seeing everything we want to see. This show is high on our list of productions we’d like to attend and free tickets would ensure that we could not only see this production, but would save us money to see other shows as well.

After seeing first hand what war can do to our military I think it is amazing that someone is examining this from a new perspective. I think this would be amazing to see.

I would love to experience this and be able to take a friend…

Love to see our major theater companies producing new plays by local playwrights!

I haven’t been to a play at the ART in quite a while. It’s time.

I’ve heard great things about this show, and I would love to see it! But I can’t afford a $50 ticket…

This looks like a great show, and I really enjoyed the last one I went to Artists Rep!

My 18 year old son is seriously considering joining the Marines and this would be a great study in what our soldiers experience after coming home from battle. I would love to take him too.

A timely play with ancient parallels? Sounds very much like a brilliant evening of theater to me.

    Would love to go

I enjoy theatre especially when it is about socially relevant topics, and this one fits that criteria.

Would love to take my boyfriend to this. We are both theatre nerds and met while in a show. This shows topic has a lot of significance to us and I know we would so love the opportunity to see it

My mother is in town and I would love to take her for such a fun, inspiring outing! I got my love of theater from her, so I would love to experience this together.

We are off work this week and have been spending it drinking craft beer around town and sipping wine in the Willamette Valley. We need a desperate break from that routine, saved from more craft breweries Friday night, and need to add some culture as our vacation week winds down. This play would be the perfect thing to end the week with and have wanted to go to the Repertory Theater.

    because it would be lovely

  17. Jillian McAdory May 30, 2013 at 18:21 #

Anything that has to do with our heroes and art – I’m definitely interested in.

Reasons you should pick me for the free tickets:

    1. I know that 4 x 8 = 32, like any good robot would.
    2. I’m not a robot.
    3. I’m a pacifist who resisted draft registration, and there should be at least one of those in the house for this play, right?
    4. I want to take a friend who moved from Boston who needs to be exposed to more cool things in Portland to ensure that she sticks around (and continues to break my heart).
