  9. Josh K. August 1, 2013 at 10:52 #

I’d like to go because I know that I can still fit in with the Oregon definition of elegant. Which is to say, I’ve got a clean polo shirt and pair of jeans waiting to smell like cigar smoke and I have never been one to turn down a good belt of scotch.

  10. Alex August 1, 2013 at 10:57 #

  44. Kathryn August 1, 2013 at 14:46 #

“Language can’t describe reality. Literature has no stable reference, no real meaning. Each reader’s interpretation is equally valid, more important than the author’s intention. In fact, nothing in life has meaning. Reality is subjective. Values and truths are subjective. Life itself is a kind of illusion. Blah, blah, blah, let’s have another scotch.”

    ~Dean Koontz

  45. Renata August 1, 2013 at 14:50 #

“There is no such thing as a bad scotch, some are just better than others”- butchered from a W. Faulkner quote. I want to be able to taste the good and the better!

Scotch is my favorite drink of choice. a good scotch and cigar is one of the best ways to relax.

  47. kay pelzner August 1, 2013 at 14:55 #

My son just graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. He’s now applying for med school. The kid’s broke and he could really use a nice night out with a couple of buddies for cigars and scotch. He’s earned it and has many years to go before he’ll be in a position to buy his own. So lets give him a night to remember before he has to start studying for his mcats.

  48. Mary August 1, 2013 at 14:59 #

  49. jimbobber August 1, 2013 at 15:02 #

  55. Sita waters August 1, 2013 at 15:47 #

I heard that one has to visit a Mcmenamins while living in Portland. This event is definitely reason for me to finally patronize this notorious establishment. Are you able to soak after you get all drunk on scotch?

  56. Jolene Nelson August 1, 2013 at 15:53 #

What a great gift/date for the fiance and I!! We did the Scotch dinner, now with cigars, how fun!!

  57. Jackie August 1, 2013 at 15:53 #

There once was a girl from Alaska

Who loved to sip some Talisker

    And everyone knew,

    after having a few,

she’d dance with whoever would ask ‘er!

  58. Joseph Keebler August 1, 2013 at 15:54 #

This would be a great way to toast to the many survivors after Sherwood’s Relay for Life 2013!

Pick me please! Would appreciate attending this event, and free makes it even more wonderful.

  63. Amy Dennis August 1, 2013 at 16:25 #

I would LOVE to go to this. I have been seeing the hype about McM’s scotch & cigar dinners since I worked at the Edgefield in the mid-90s, but in typically Marxist fashion, there was (and now after student loans, is–YIKES) no way I could afford to enjoy one of them. I could make it, but not make enough dough to enjoy it!

I’d like to win this because it would really be the highlight of an economically-imposed “Staycation” this summer. I know the food is super fresh and clean during these tastings, and I adore scotch and the occasional tasty cigar. My partner would absolutely crap if I surprised him with this!

  64. Melissa Cook August 1, 2013 at 16:26 #

I would absolutely LOVE to win this! I adore Mcmenamins and would like to learn more about scotch and if I win I will share the entire experience on my blog for all to see!!

An elegant dinner in my neighborhood…sign me up please.

  68. JockJamz August 1, 2013 at 17:02 #

I could try to conjure the words to fully describe how I feel about that sun-kissed bronze nectar and how well it pairs with a finely rolled cigar, but I would fail to truly elucidate the proper level of feeling needed.

So in the now immortal words of one Ronald Joseph Aaron Burgundy,

“I love scotch. Scotchy, scotch, scotch. Here it goes down, down into my belly”

  69. pj August 1, 2013 at 17:25 #

This month my husband turns 62. I would love to win this and surprise him. He and a friend could spend the evening in elegance! After 34 years of marriage there have been few extravagant events and THIS fits the bill! A birthday he would not forget!

  70. Ben August 1, 2013 at 17:30 #

This is too cool. I love it all! I also live quite near Kennedy School and have yet to do anything there other than watch cheap movies and eat expensive pizza.

  71. Sherry August 1, 2013 at 17:36 #

Scotch and Cigars are two of my favorite things and after a personal 4 Months of hell this sounds like a nice night out on the town.

  72. seth francis August 1, 2013 at 19:52 #

Sounds like an absolutely divine evening! My 67 year old mother would think she had died and gone to heaven… She knows where the detention room at Kennedy School very well. Scotch and cigars are her thing. My mother and father need a nice evening out after caring for my 96 year old Grandmother every day for the past 3 months. He takes the day shift, she takes the evening shift and they haven’t had ANY time together in as long. They have their 46th wedding anniversary coming up December 16th, so they are very much in love and miss each other more then words can say.
Please give my parents a well deserved evening out….
