Aftermass + Bike Smut 8: Come Again
September 12, 2014
Aftermass Starts at 7 p.m. / Bike Smut starts at 9 p.m. | $7 per show / $10 for both
Clinton Street Theater
2522 SE Clinton St, Portland, OR 97202
Exploring the relationship between our bodies and our boulevards, Bike Smut started 8 years ago in Portland Oregon. Now an internationally touring film festival Bike Smut works to challenge ideas about how we “get around.” This is not one person’s opinions about how you should move or fuck. Many different filmmakers submit their ideas for what is great about bodies and mobility. Cities submitting films this year include Chicago, Montreal, Oakland, Phoenix, Minneapolis and Vienna and the first place it will be shown is in Portland!
The program is made of various interpretations on the theme of “bicycle erotica” but this is hardly your typical porn screening. Following the ideals of sex positive culture there is no shaming of people for their bodies or sexual interests, also filmmakers are encouraged to show explicit verbal consent, something lacking in most films if not most of our lives. Bike Smut is also about more than just bikes, for the first time ever they are sharing an authentic wheelchair porn. Your mobility is connected to your sexuality; be self-empowered!
Independence is quite sexy but for all the car commercials showing a single car owning the road they never acknowledge that what we really have is interdependence. We all use the infrastructure and if we all choose to drive we all will be waiting in traffic. Not sexy.
Our media is overrun with sexual images desperate to grab our attention. But their fleeting images leave us with empty desire. By claiming our own right to sexuality on our own terms we do any with the culture of shame that would manipulate us into thoughtless consumerism.
Plus it is a really fucking good time.
Come join us Friday, September 12th, at 9 PM at the Clinton Street Theater for the world premiere of Bike Smut 8: Come Again
Tickets are $7 and you can purchase them in advance from the Clinton. https://clinton-street-
Also screening that night is Aftermass: Bicycling in a Post-Critical Mass Portland.
Aftermass demonstrates the essential relationship between advocacy, activism, and leadership that made Portland into North America’s Bicycle City and how those lessons about social change could be applied anywhere! Reverend Phil started this project many years ago and soon realized it was a much bigger project than he could tackle alone. Thankfully Joe Biel saw the potential and finished the film.
For one night only, not one but two veteran bicycle activist filmmakers present their newest works. Plus we’ve got a special deal where you can get tickets to both shows for only $10!
Aftermass starts at 7 PM on Sept 12 at the Clinton Street Theatre with Q&A afterwards.

Stay late for hardcore bike pornography about how we use our pubic space.
After the show join a special Midnight Mystery Ride. Reverend Phil will be pounding the pavement with Bike Smut again, bicycle touring south to Humbolt, San Francisco, Los Angles and around North America, finally returning to Cascadia in May of 2015.
After biking from Minneapolis to Montreal to (almost) Mexico this Winter, then across a dozen European countries this Summer Reverend Phil returns to Portland Friday, September 12th for the world premiere of Bike Smut 8: Come Again and a bonus screening of Aftermass.
